George Worth Bench, Jr. of Fairview, Utah, passed away April 27, 2023 from complications of Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia. He was born July 14, 1946 to George Worth Bench and Margaret Erma Brinton. He married Peggy Stevens in the Salt Lake LDS temple in 1969. They are the parents of five children: Bradley (Annette Glauser), St. George; Dixie (deceased); Bonnie (Shawn Christophersen), North Ogden; Katie, Salt Lake City; Blake (Allison Tenney), Alpine. They have 14 grandchildren.
George graduated from North Sanpete High School, Snow College, Utah State University, and earned a Masters of Educational Administration from Brigham Young University. He taught vocational agriculture at Hurricane High School and North Sanpete High School, and science at North Sanpete Middle School. He held several administrative positions including assistant superintendent of North Sanpete School District.
George was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in the Texas Mission from 1965 to 1967. He fulfilled various callings throughout the years including Gospel Doctrine teacher, Stake High Council member, bishopric counselor and Primary teacher. He and Peggy served as ordinance workers in the Manti Temple from 2005 until the temple closed for renovation in 2021. He became a sealer in 2017. They also served as ordinance workers in the Nauvoo Temple. He loved being with his family, spending time in Flat Canyon, riding horses, and BYU football.
George is the brother of Erma Lee Hansen, Fairview; John L Bench, Sandy; Steven Bench, Moroni; Ralph Bench, Fairview; Bryant Bench (deceased) and JoAnn Turpin, Fairview.
Family and friends are invited to a viewing on Monday, May 1 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Fairview Third Ward Rock Church, 131 East 100 North, Fairview, Utah. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 2 at 11:00 a.m. with a viewing from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m.
The family expresses their gratitude to the many healthcare professionals who have given kind and compassionate service to George - especially Revere Health Oncology, the dermatology staff of Dr. Payam Tristani, and the very special people at Med One.
