George Allen Hamburger Jr.

Nov 2, 1954 May 10, 2025

George Allen Hamburger Jr., age 70, passed away unexpectedly on May 10, 2025, in Murray, Utah. Born on November 2, 1954, in Keokuk, Iowa, to George Allen Hamburger Sr. and Nellie Joean Pilcher Hamburger. Allen lived a life marked by kindness, humor, and an unwavering devotion to family and friends.

Allen graduated from Hamilton High School in1972 and moved from Hamilton, Illinois to Salt Lake City, Utah shortly after graduation. On September 5, 1983, Allen married the love of his life, Peggy Dean Hansen. Together, they raised a family filled with love and laughter. Allen was a compassionate man who would do anything for anyone. He had a gift for making people smile—always ready with a joke, a funny story, or a gentle tease—especially when it came to the younger generations.

Allen dedicated many hardworking years to various professions, including truck driving, siding installation, window and door fitting, patio cover construction, and parts distribution. His hands were skilled, and his work ethic was unmatched.

He loved woodworking and auto mechanics, and was always up for an outdoor adventure—whether it was skiing, fishing, hunting, four-wheeling, or camping. As a motorcycle enthusiast, Allen found joy in the open road, whether it was long distances or just around the neighborhood. He cherished time spent traveling with Peggy and visiting loved ones, as well as the simple pleasure of lunch with friends.

Allen is survived by his beloved wife, Peggy Hamburger; son, Lars Wade Hansen; daughters, Melissa Walton (Jayson) and Tara Walton (Bill); grandchildren: Logan Hansen (Kaleigh), Tyler Hansen, Taylor Walton, Katie Walton, Joe Hansen, Kailey Hansen, Sydney Walton, Lexi Walton, Ben Hansen, and Ellie Hansen; and great-grandson, Lawson Hansen. He is also survived by siblings Jackie Jackson of Centerton, AR, Jim (Sue) Hamburger of Holden, MO, Diana Hamburger of Hamilton, IL, Janell (Steve) Day of Keokuk, IA, Vicki (Pat) Fountain of Hamilton, IL, along with many cherished aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Lillard (Doc) and Mildred (Brodie) Pilcher, and Charles (Theresa Keim) Hamburger; parents, George and Joean Hamburger; sister, Carol McAfee (Hamburger); niece, Donna Marie Turpin; and daughter-in-law, Carisa Hansen.

Allen’s spirit lives on in the laughter of his grandchildren, the strength of his family, and the countless lives he touched with his generosity and wit. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered...just don't pull his finger!
