Genevieve (Gene) Thompson, age 98, died on December 3, 2021 in Murray Utah. She was born in Baltimore Maryland to Christian F. and Genevieve A. Burnett. She married Donald R. Thompson (later divorced) in Washington DC. They had two children, Lisa and Lynn.

Gene loved to travel in Europe, as long as it included Italy. She stayed up on current events and loved her family, reading, crossword puzzles, animals, listening to opera, and had a wonderful sense of humor. Living in the DC area, she enjoyed many cultural events the area had to offer.

Gene worked in various agencies for the Federal Government including the US Department of the Interior, Environmental Protection Agency, FEMA, General Services Administration and the Department of Homeland Security. She was frequently recognized for her dedicated service.

She will always be remembered for her generosity, kindness, and integrity. Gene was the epitome of good manners and class. She was simply the best!

She is survived by her daughter Lisa Gregson, grandchildren Bryan Gregson, Jennifer Gregson, Kristin Mutter, Stephanie Cheney (Mark), many great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by parents, brother Fred, daughter Lynn James and sons-in-law Dennis Gregson and Jess James.

As per her request, the gathering will be small. Family and close friends are invited to Funeral services December 13, 2021 at Memorial Redwood Mortuary 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah 84123 at 2:00 with a visitation one hour prior. Interment will follow at the same location. The family suggests wearing a mask.
