Eutona Anderson Dixon

Oct 28, 1936 Jan 7, 2024

On Sunday morning, January 7, 2024, at the age of 87, Eutona Anderson Dixon passed away peacefully in her Orem, Utah home after a hard-fought battle with Leukemia. She was surrounded by family during her final days and at the time of her passing. Eutona touched the lives of those around her with her warmth, kindness, and unwavering love.

Eutona was born on October 28, 1936, to Joseph Wilham Anderson and Clara Weyerman Anderson in Piedmont, Wyoming. She was the seventh of nine children, with an older brother, Harold, who died before she was born, and a younger sibling (unnamed) who was stillborn.

Eutona attended Lyman Grade School and Lyman High School in Wyoming. In 1951, the family sold their farm and moved to Magna, Utah where she finished her high school at Cyprus High School, graduating in May of 1954. After graduating high school, she attended two quarters at LDS Business College.

In the spring of 1955, Eutona met the love of her life, Leland Gerald Dixon on a blind date. They were soon married in the Salt Lake Temple on October 14, 1955. With this union came five sons and one daughter. Eutona’s children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy. She showed unconditional love to every one of them. Leland and Eutona’s family includes 100 members.

Eutona was a devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many of the church’s auxiliary organizations and as a temple worker. In her retirement years, she and Leland served a mission in Eagle Mountain.

She loved reading the scriptures, keeping a clean and orderly home, scrapbooking, sewing, gardening, canning, growing flowers, serving others, and spending time with family and friends. One of her greatest talents was quilting, making hundreds of quilts that were lovingly given to her posterity and to charity.

Eutona was preceded in death by her son Cory Dixon; parents Joseph and Clara Anderson; siblings Carol (James) Perdue, Jane (Norton) Pixton, Joseph (Dorthey) Anderson, Effie (Donald) McCarty, Marvin (Thea) Anderson, and Harold Anderson; sisters-in-law Leola (Harmon) Fox, Shirley Dixon; and brothers-in-law Louis Dixon, LeRoy (Mary Lou) Dixon, and Joseph Barlow.

Eutona is survived by her loving husband, of 68 years, Leland Dixon of Orem, Utah; daughter-in-law Laura Dixon of Payson, Utah; daughter Tonya (Mike) Brinkerhoff of Lehi, Utah; four sons: Wade (Laura) Dixon of Orem, Utah, Bret (Julie) Dixon of Bountiful, Utah, Russell (Alecia) Dixon of Wenatchee, Washington, and Richard (Laura) Dixon of Spanish Fork, Utah; 25 grandchildren and 42 great-grandchildren; her sister Sally (Gary) Maxfield of Santa Clara, Utah; one brother-in-law Loran Dixon; and two sisters-in-law Connie Barlow and Doreen Dixon.
