Eugene Earl Dixon, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on February 27, 2025.

Eugene was born April 18, 1930, in Madison, South Dakota to Earl Marvin and Tilla Ruen Dixon. He married Elizabeth “Betty” Jane Brady in 1949 and moved to New York City. Their son, Michael, was born in 1950. Betty died in 1972. He later met and married Jeanete De Castro in 1974. They were the proud parents of three children, Elizabeth, Maria, and Andrew. They were later divorced in 1996. In 2003, Eugene married Annette Hemingway.

Eugene served in the National Guard and the Army for many years in South Dakota and New York. He served in the army in Greenland during the Korean War. He later worked as a longshoreman in New York for many years until he retired. Eugene then moved to Utah with his second wife and children.

Eugene enjoyed fishing, gardening, cooking, putting together puzzles, and talking about his days as a longshoreman.

Eugene joined the LDS church in 1973. He served the church faithfully in many callings, including serving as a member of the bishopric when he lived in the eastern United States.

Eugene is survived by his wife, Annette, his children Elizabeth, Maria, and Andrew (Brandi), grandsons Michael, Alex, and Casey and great-granddaughter Maddie, brothers Myron, John (Carol), Earl (Jan), Bill, and sisters Gloria (Ron) and Donna. He is also survived by Annette’s children Ann, Carolynne (Keith) and Robert (Cynthia), her 9 grandchildren, and her 19 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his first wife Betty, his son Michael, his daughter-in-law Diane, his grandson Brandon, his parents, and sister Ila.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 8, 2025 at the L.D.S. church, 1160 Vine Street, Murray, Utah, 84121, where friends and family may visit from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m.
