Eugene Ray Clark

Gene passed away on February 22, 2023 at the age of 91. He was born on June 29, 1931 in Salt Lake City, Utah during the Great Depression. His Parents were Farrell Clark and Nellie Woodmansee. Times were tough financially for his family. As a boy, Gene would often shine shoes and sell newspapers on the streets for extra money.

Gene served his country well in the Army in Alaska during the Korean War. After the war, he married Charlene Devenish, the love of his life, on April 22, 1955. They soon started a family with two boys, David and Larry. And to their surprise, a wonderful daughter (Tammy) was born 13 years later.

Gene worked at a brick manufacturing plant for several years. Afterwards, he worked for the Utah Department of Transportation for 30 years. Then he joined the retired folks.

Over his lifetime, Gene was a great provider, husband, dad, grandpa and friend! He enjoyed coaching his boys, as well as camping and fishing with his family. Gene enjoyed spending countless hours watching his kids and grandkids during baseball, basketball, cheerleading, and piano recitals. He was also an avid Utah Jazz fan and rarely missed a game on TV. Gene also enjoyed having many dogs over the years. He was quite a Handyman, always fixing vehicles and things around the house. We will miss his good humor and loving kindness.

Gene is preceded in death by his wife Charlene, his Parents, Brothers (Albert Benjamin, Farrell LaMonte), and Sisters (Beverly Elaine, Norma Vee). He is survived by his Brother (Ronald), his sons David (Tina) and Larry (Samantha), daughter Tammy (Steve), 12 Grandchildren and 6 Great Grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 28 at 12:00 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Chapel, 9800 S Flint Drive, Sandy, UT. The Viewing is from 10:30-11:30 am. The Interment will be held at Mountain View Memorial Estates Cemetery, 7800 South 3115 East, Cottonwood Heights, UT.
