Eugene "Andy" Alvin Anderson

Eugene Alvin Anderson (Andy), age 90, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on April 16, 2021. Eugene was born on October 7, 1930 in Ogden, Utah to Rudolph Alvin and Jennie Dunn Anderson. Eugene married Donna Evans Anderson on January 16, 1965. They were later sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple on January 16, 1996. Eugene was a loving husband, father, son, grandpa, and great-grandpa. He loved being surrounded by his family.

Some of his many hobbies included cooking, golf, leather working and making jewelry. He is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He held many church callings and served an inner-city mission with his wife in the Rose Park, Utah Area and served as a temple worker at Jordan River Temple in South Jordan, Utah which he dearly loved. He loved to serve those around him, often taking many meals to neighbors and friends. He never turned away an opportunity to help anyone in need.

Eugene served honorably in the United States Army and Utah Army National Guard including service in the Korean War. He retired in 1990 after 42 years of military service. He had a deep love for his country and the meaning of the flag and he modeled those values for his family. Eugene worked for the VA Hospital in the Occupational Therapy Department for 38 years. He had great compassion for the veteran patients he worked with. Many became life-long friends. Eugene will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.

Our family would like to express our gratitude to the many healthcare workers who have cared for him throughout the years.

Eugene is survived by his loving wife, Donna. Sons; Steve (Marva) Anderson, David Anderson, Jeff Anderson, Lonny (Ami) Anderson and Shawn (Amy) Anderson. Daughters; Elaine (Mike) Pitts, Carrie (Kevin) Horne and Lisa (Wayne) Berry. He has 18 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and in-laws.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 24, 2021 at 12:00pm with a viewing being held prior to the services from 10:00am to 11:30am. Services will be at the LDS Church at 495 East 5600 South, Murray, Utah. Interment will be at Memorial Estates Mountain View Cemetery, 3115 East Bengal Blvd, Cottonwood Heights, Utah.
