Erly Holm Pedersen

Erly Holm “Nielsen” Pedersen – sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend, passed away on May 8, 2022 at the age of 91.

Erly was born February 15, 1931, in Aalborg, Denmark to Jens Marinus and Sorine Birgette Nielsen. Married Kaj Pedersen on February 18, 1950 in Randers, Denmark. In 1958 they moved their family of four children from Denmark to the United States to begin an adventurous life.

Erly worked at the Salt Lake City and County Building and then at Excel Food Distribution for many years until retiring at the age of 70. She became friends with everyone, and her personality allowed you to be yourself when you were around her. She loved to travel and visited many places in the United States and Europe. She especially enjoyed visiting Denmark to see family, friends, and familiar places.

Erly was proud of her Danish heritage and carried with her those traditions throughout her life including the language, traditional Danish cooking, Danish Christmas, and Danish porcelain. She was a long time member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

She is survived by her children Heidi, Johnnie, Rudy (Nikki) Brian (Lynda), Ricky, and Robert; 15 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Erly is preceded in death by her parents, sisters Edith and Irene, brothers Hartvig and Herluf. Husband Kaj, son-in-law Stephen and grandchild Tiffany.

A graveside service will be held at 1 pm on Monday, May 16, 2022 at Memorial Mountain View Mortuary and Cemetery, 3115 East 7800 South.
