Erika Kim Koike Beam, 32, passed away in Ogden, Utah in December 2021. Erika was born on March 14, 1989 in Incheon Seoul Korea. Her loving parents, Timothy and DeNese Beam, and her big brother, Gerik, brought her to join their family in America on August 19,1989. Erika was a precocious, witty, and an extremely intelligent child. She adored her big brother and he took great care of her.

Erika grew up in Tucson, Arizona, where she participated in Jiu Jitsu, horseback riding, Young Republicans and loved to read and write. She graduated from Saguaro High School in 2007 with honors. As a student, she excelled in English, writing and grammar.

Erika attended and received her Bachelor’s Degree from Brigham Young University in Psychology with a minor in English. She taught English, AP Psychology and sponsored the Culinary Club at Palo Verde High School in Tucson. She loved teaching her students to think for themselves and gain profound insight on different topics.

She married George Hall in Mesa, Arizona in 2014, and later divorced.

Throughout her life, Erika enjoyed making people laugh, talking and traveling the world. Her kind heart and quick wit will be greatly missed.

Erika is survived by her parents Timothy and DeNese, brother Gerik (Elizabeth), nieces Malibu and Coco, adopted brother Odassis Cheeks, Godmother Carol Thies & family, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Takashi (Bill) and Seiko (Gene) Shimizu, William and Jane Beam, cousin Miriam Ward and Pooky her Maltese-Poodle.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 15, 2022 at 11:00 am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 11038 South Braidwood Drive, South Jordan, Utah. Please wear a mask and follow all Covid-19 health and safety protocols. The memorial service will be broadcast virtually using the link: https://byu.zoom.us/j/95782829760. Erika will be interred at Memorial Mountain View Estates in Cottonwood Heights, Utah.
