It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Elizabeth “Mona” Martinez who was our dearly loved daughter, granddaughter, cousin, niece, sister, aunt, wife, mother, grandmother and friend.

She was born on June 29, 1982 in Ogden, Utah and returned to the loving arms of her Heavenly Father on Tuesday, October 26, 2021. Her parents are Norberto Garcia and Loretta Carreola Maldonado.

Elizabeth was born and raised in Utah where she was educated in public schools. Elizabeth worked hard to obtain her insurance license and was currently with State Farm Insurance. She loved her job and enjoyed the people she worked with.

Elizabeth was a dedicated grandmother first and foremost. She treasured her grand babies and embraced every moment with them.

She had a vivacious personality and made people around her laugh. She made friends everywhere she went. Elizabeth also loved spending time with her boys and their families. She enjoyed having a good time. Cooking delicious Mexican food and listening to music was always a staple in her life. She especially loved to dance and sing songs by her favorite artist, Jenni Rivera.

Elizabeth was an animal lover with a special fondness for turtles. She will be leaving behind her fur-baby, “Lady”, who she adored.

Above all, she loved her family. Elizabeth was a kind-hearted, hard-working woman with an infectious laugh and a beautiful smile. She had a great sense of humor and had some of the funniest sayings and one-liners anyone has ever heard. Whether you knew her for only a moment or a whole lifetime, your life was blessed. She was truly loved and will be profoundly missed.

Elizabeth is survived by her loving husband, Alfonso Barona, and his three children, Alfonso Barona Jr., Clara Barona and Josiah Anthony Barona; her three children, Carlos Maldonado, Francisco (Maria) Maldonado, and Justino Martinez; Her parents, Norberto (Rossy) Garcia, and Loretta (Juan) Maldonado; her siblings, Vincent (Cindy) Patino, Tilly Rios, Felicitas Gutierrez, Marlene (Eric) Treto, Vanessa (Itzae) Ramirez, Claudia (Reynaldo) Martinez, Sonia Ramirez, Rachel Garcia, Jonathan Garcia, Danny Garcia, Michelle Garcia, Caleb Garcia, and Mia Garcia; her grandchildren, Janaiah and Santiago, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her grandmother, Felipa Morales, uncle Efrain Garcia, cousins Frank Garcia and Guilebaldo Lopez Garcia.
