Elizabeth (Beth) Steele Andersen passed away on December 6th at her home in South Jordan Utah surrounded by loved ones. She was born on October 20th, 1939 in Salt Lake City Utah. She was the fourth child of Ione Poulsen Steele, later Gates. She grew up in a large family of Steele and Gates children. Elizabeth was the beautiful wife of Dean Andersen, and they enjoyed 62 years of marriage. She was the mother of Greg (Raylene), Karlene, Jeanine (Bret), Duane (Jessica), and James, as well as a grandmother of 12 and great-grandmother of 4. She received an associate degree from Stephen Heneger College and worked as a secretary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the office of the Presiding Bishopric and at the Utah State Capital. She loved Family History and worked for several years in the Family History Center in Laie Hawaii. Later, she worked in the recorder’s office at the Laie Hawaii Temple, helping to implement the newly developed Temple Ready program and as a secretary to the Temple President.

Elizabeth served in many capacities including as a nurse’s aide at St. Mark’s Hospital, President of the BYU Hawaii Faculty Wives Association, Chairman of the Kahuku Marching Band Festival and was very involved with the March of Dimes as well as other charitable drives. Elizabeth was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many different capacities, including the Relief Society, Young Women and Primary organizations. She also served as an ordinance worker in the Jordan River Temple. She served with her husband Dean as a stake missionary, ward missionary and as a full-time missionary in Seoul Korea.

Beth devoted her life to the service of others. In the latter years of her life, she heroically continued to live a life of service even though she had been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. She was an example of Christlike devotion to all who entered her life.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday December 12, 2023, with a viewing from 11:45 – 12:45 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 3407 W. 9625 S., South Jordan, UT 84095

An evening viewing will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Monday, December 11th at the same location.

Interment will be Tuesday December 12, 2023 at 2:30 p.m. at Redwood Memorial Cemetery
