Douglas E. Wilkinson

Jul 8, 1940 Nov 19, 2022

Douglas E. Wilkinson passed away on November 19, 2022, surrounded by his children in Sandy, Utah, at the age of 82. He was born on July 8, 1940, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Ernest and Edith Wilkinson.

Doug had an immeasurable love for his children and grandchildren. Doug was a humble and simple man who was not concerned with the trends of the world. He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and was always serving others. Doug loved spending time outdoors and visiting the National Parks. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping with his children and grandchildren. He delighted in telling “dad” jokes and could fix anything with some wire, duct tape and caulk. Doug served in the Army from 1963 to 1965 where he received a Good Conduct Medal and an Expert Rifle Badge.

Doug is survived by his children, Todd (Tracey) Wilkinson, Paul Wilkinson, Nicole (Ed) Wicker and Michelle (Kenny) Pollock; grandchildren, David (Jessica) Tanner, Nichelle Stephens, Samantha Lindsay, Whitney Wilkinson, Joshua Wilkinson, J.D. Lindsay, Nickolas Pollock and Taylor Wicker; nine great-grandchildren; siblings, Dave Wilkinson, Sherry (Al) Rasmussen, Rex (Shelly) Wilkinson, Kim (Chuck) Forrester, Vickie (Brian) Debenham; former step-children, September Fisher and Corena Gardner. Doug was preceded in death by his parents Ernest and Edith Wilkinson and his sister Patsy Wilkinson.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on November 28, 2022, at Utah Veterans Cemetery (Camp Williams). A viewing will be held at 9:00 a.m. prior to the funeral service. Doug will be laid to rest at Utah Veterans Cemetery at a later date during a private ceremony.

To honor Doug’s countless acts of service to family, friends and strangers we ask that you do what Doug would have done, and extend a hand to someone in need during this holiday season.
