Dorothy Milar

Nov 28, 1932 Nov 12, 2021

Dorothy Gust Milar was born 28 November, 1932 in Murray, Utah as the eldest daughter of Nick Constantopoulos and Helen Lexes Gust. Dorothy passed away peacefully on 12 November, 2021 of natural causes. All her life, Dorothy was focused on her family. She was very proud of her Greek heritage and loved to share those traditions with her family. She married her high school sweetheart, Thomas Garn Milar, 20 October, 1950 in Salt Lake City, Utah. They then welcomed into their family 2 daughters and 4 sons: Kenneth (Judy) Milar, Patricia (Winn) Noyes, Linda (Dave) Rodeback, Gordon (Cora) Milar, Ronald (Melody) Milar, and Jim Milar.

Dorothy grew up on a farm and learned hard work from a young age. She carried that work ethic through her life and taught her children the value of hard work. She excelled in school where her true love was mathematics and she turned that love into a career. She started doing taxes for people she knew and then, after more schooling, did tax returns and accounting professionally for most of her life.

She converted to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in many callings. She loved to put on ward dinners. She was well-known for her fried chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy (her favorite!) along with many delicious Greek foods which she would make for hundreds of people at a time. Her chicken noodle soup and chocolate pie could cure anything!

Dorothy was late to everything in her entire life - even her husband’s funeral! She could only make it on time to work; everything else had a negotiable start time. She is preceded in death by her husband and daughter (Linda), parents, and one sister. She is survived by her 2 brothers Ernie (Kay) Gust, John (Jeri) Gust, and sister, Joyce Young. She has 22 grandchildren and 50 great-grandchildren. She was greatly loved and will be dearly missed by all who knew her. She has been an inspiration to all those around her and a true example of our Savior’s love and kindness to others.
