Donna Joyce Springer returned to her Heavenly Father on August 3, 2023 at the age of eighty six years old. At the time of her death, she was living at The Wellington Assisted Living Center in Millcreek, Utah.
Donna was born on January 13, 1937, in Salt Lake City Utah. She was the only child born to Reinder Springer and Edna Hansen Springer. She was raised in the Rose Park area of Salt Lake City and graduated from West High School. Donna never married.
After high school Donna worked at a local movie theater. She then went to work at the Genealogy Library for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She worked there faithfully for more than forty years before she retired.
After her father’s death, she and her mother moved to the Graystone Condominiums south of Sugar House in 1996. They lived together until her mother’s death in December 2003. After that Donna lived there by herself.
Donna was a faithful member of the Forestview Ward, Grant Stake. The monthly meeting of the Stitchery Group was held in her home. She loved having the sisters come. She also had a friend, Marjorie (Marty) Smith, in the ward and they also worked together. She and Marty took many trips and cruises together. They had a great time as they traveled the world. Marty died in July 2014.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents and all but one of her cousins. She is survived by her remaining cousin, Robert J Elcock and his wife, Donna. She was loved by many of her ward friends and her neighbors. She will be missed.
The family is grateful for the service of A-Plus Hospice and especially for Donna’s nurse, Christian.
There will be a viewing on Wednesday, August 9, from 6pm to 8pm at the Forestview Ward located at 1111 Charlton Avenue (2818 S.) in Salt Lake City.
