Donna Swenson Schultz

Oct 5, 1948 Apr 15, 2023

Donna Swenson Schultz, 74, passed away peacefully at her home in St. George, Utah on April 15th, 2023, after a 2 1/2-year battle with pancreatic cancer.

It is with a heavy heart that we announce Donna’s passing. She was a remarkable woman who touched the lives of so many with her warmth, grace, and spirit of adventure. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, friend, and community member, and her loss is deeply felt by all who knew her.

Donna was born on October 5, 1948, in Murray, Utah to Archibald and Norma Swenson, and raised in the small town of Moab, Utah. She was one of 5 children raised in an immensely loving household. She was involved in multiple activities and social clubs in school. Many of the friendships she made as a child she maintained her entire life.

Donna met and married the love of her life, David Schultz, in 1969, and they were married for nearly 54 years and remained deeply in love until she left us. They settled in Sandy, Utah, and raised their three children, Melanie, Jeremy, and Amy. Their focus as parents was always on quality time with their children; they enjoyed sports, camping and family vacations.

Donna lived a life full of joy and adventure. She loved nothing more than being surrounded by family and friends, and her home was always open to anyone in need of love and support. She could entertain or host a family dinner at the drop of a hat. She had a gift for making and maintaining great friendships, and her circle of loved ones extended far and wide.

Throughout her life, Donna had a passion for sports, including tennis, golf (including 2 separate holes- in-one!), hiking, biking, and pickleball. While competitive, yet a model of sportsmanship, Donna loved sport for the sense of community and being able to have activity she could share with those she loved the most.

In addition to her athletic achievements and adventurous spirit, Donna had a successful career in accounting and finance. She was also committed to giving back to her community. For many years she worked with the Ronald McDonald House in Salt Lake City, as a member of the board, and later serving as president. She also served in many roles with her church, Cottonwood Presbyterian, including as an Elder and a Deacon in service to the congregation. She also sang in the choir and taught Sunday School. But her true passion was always her family and friends, and she devoted herself wholeheartedly to raising her three children and creating a warm and welcoming home for all who entered.

No gathering was complete without her infectious laughter, her warm smile, and her signature wit. She had a gift for bringing people together and making everyone feel like they belonged.

As Donna fought valiantly to stay with us, her family and friends were by her side, offering love and support until the end. Her memory will always be with us, and her legacy of love, kindness, and adventure will live on through the countless lives she touched.

We take comfort in knowing that this remarkable woman lived her life to the fullest every day, and her spirit will continue to inspire us all.

Donna is survived by her loving, amazing husband and best friend David, also by her children, who she loved and cherished and was so proud of. Daughter Melanie LaPointe (Glenn), son Jeremy Schultz (Kris), daughter Amy Ferre (David). Her granddaughters Caitlin Herzog (Brad), Kira Christiansen (Chris), Sara Ferre, Makayla Rooker, Amanda Ferre. Step granddaughters Elowyn and Adrienne LaPointe. Her grandsons Zackary Rooker, and Jacob Ferre (Bailey). Her great grandchildren, Ava, Alex, Henry, Weston, Jaxon and Cashton. Surviving siblings Linda Rowley (Randy), Bonnie Bohannon (Richard), Bruce Swenson (Terri), sister-in-law Kathy Swenson, along with many nieces, nephews and many dear friends. Preceded in death by parents Archie and Norma Swenson, loving brother Lloyd Swenson, in-laws Larry and Marletta Schultz, and step nephew Preston Rowley.
