Obituary for Donald “Don/Donnie” Kirk Johnson, Age 68.

Don died on November 8th, 2020, in his home alongside his loving children in Millcreek, Utah. He was born on November 26th, 1951, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Kirk Mayne Johnson and Eva Maurine Johnson.

Growing up he was a natural baseball player going as far as being scouted by the New York Yankees. At Olympus High School he became passionate about politics through debate. He went on to serve in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. In college he found his true passion in history and his natural ability to teach and motivate individuals to excel in college. He was always a top achiever in sales and recruitment working for nearly 30 years at ITT Technical Institute as a recruiter and instructor.

Don was handsome and charming and always exuded a larger-than-life aura. He was a man that could put a smile on anyone’s face, treating everyone equally. His generosity was shown in the smallest of ways, a simple random gift or a phone call to remind you he was thinking of you. He will forever be loved and missed.

His greatest loves in life were his children and of course… Coke.

A gathering for Donald’s friends and family will be held on Friday, January 15, 2021, from 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM with a memorial service to follow at 1:00 PM at Memorial Murray Mortuary, 5850 South 900 East, Murray, Utah 84121. Inurnment will take place following the service at Murray City Cemetery, 5490 South Vine Street, Murray, Utah 84107.

Guestbook

My father was many things. He was a father, brother, grandfather. But most importantly he was wise, loving, caring, and kind. He was the father that most wished for. He has taught me many things. But I just wished that he could stay a little longer with us all. I hope that my father is looking over us all, and making sure that we will be all okay. He was my hero, and I will never forget him. Love you dad,
