Donald "Don" Wayne Gurney

Donald Wayne Gurney beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away unexpectedly on the morning of December 14, 2019. He was 73 years old.

Don was born in Magrath, Alberta Canada on January 31, 1946 to Earl Gurney and Lorelle Boyson. He has three brothers, Martin, Sheldon and Bruce. He has one older sister, Myrna and younger sister, Janice.

He was raised on a farm, with many wonderful memories and stories of farm life. After graduating high school he worked for Beaver Lumber until he served an LDS mission to London England. He met his beautiful wife Kim Garside while she was also serving as a missionary. Upon returning home he attended Ricks College. On weekends he traveled to Salt Lake to see Kim. They were married on February 7th, 1969 in the Salt Lake Temple. They had just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this year.

They moved to Vancouver, B.C. where they had their first daughter. Shortly after they moved to Utah where Don worked with Kim’s uncle Norm. He learned to become a master home builder and built beautiful custom homes.

He enjoyed having horses, watching westerns and building furniture in his spare time. He served many callings in the church and loved helping everyone he could. He was kind and generous to everyone. HIs eyes would light up when his grandchildren would visit. His laugh was infectious and he told the best stories keeping everyone entertained for hours.

Don is preceded in death by his parents Earl and Lorelle. He is survived by his eternal sweetheart Kim and his three children. Jennifer Calufetti and her husband Ron, Kersten Robbins and her husband Scott, Jonathan Drew and his wife Nicole. He is also survived by eight grandchildren.

A viewing will be held on Thursday December 19th from 6-8 p.m. at 2742 west 14400 south Bluffdale, Utah Stake Center. Funeral services will be on December 20th at 11:00 a.m. with a viewing from 10:00-10:45 prior at the same location. Internment at Bluffdale City Cemetary
