Surrounded by her loving family, Dixie Dee Hardy, passed away peacefully on March 3rd, 2024 in West Jordan, Utah. She was 82 years old.

Born in Salt Lake City, Utah on January 19, 1942. Dixie was the daughter of Ernest Read Croxford and Golda Purser. She grew up in Salt Lake City where she formed life-long friendships and memories.

Dixie was known for her servant heart and blessed many people with her kindness and generosity. She had a fun sense of humor and loved playing tricks on her friends and family. Dixie dedicated her life to her children and grandchildren!

Dixie had many talents where she touched the lives of many. She sewed professionally for Penthouse Fashions, and shared her love of interior design by starting her own wall covering business called The Wall Nut. She spent nearly 30 years making people's homes beautiful as well as her own.

She married David White in 1959, he passed tragically in a drowning accident leaving her to raise their infant daughter, Holli as a single mom. She then married Melvin H. Murphy on April 28, 1961 where they went on to have four additional children Todd, Melanie, Heidi, and Wendy. establishing their roots in Granite, Utah where they raised their family. Mel and Dixie later divorced. On December 6, 2008 Dixie was sealed to Larry Ray Hardy in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they enjoyed traveling and spending time with their family.

A woman of many passions, Dixie loved reading, gardening, sewing, quilting, camping, fishing, hunting, cooking, doing puzzles and was famous for her potato salad and her mother's recipe for old fashioned fruit cake at Christmas.

She loved Christmas and made it magical for her children and grandchildren. Dixie had a soft spot for animals and she cared for many over the years passing her love of animals to her children and grandchildren.

She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving in many capacities and ministering to many in need. She was a Red Cross volunteer and helped many displaced in the flood of 1983.

Dixie leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, and resilience that will forever be remembered by her children Holli (Dave) Christensen, Todd (Marcia) Murphy, Melanie (Jim) Osborne, Heidi (Jeremy) Paulsen, Wendy (Matt) Redford. Stepchildren Sean (Lana) Hardy, Jane (Matthew) Kunelius, Steven (Tiffianie) Hardy, Ginger Dunn.

29 grandchildren: Lacey (Billy) Quale, Seth Radeke, Zach (Christy) Christensen, Camille (Erik) Mikkelson, Cassie (Jordan) Partridge, Cody (Megan) Murphy, Torie (Adam) Taron, Brittney (Zach) Hansen, Tristen Murphy, McKenna Paulsen, Brycen Paulsen, Noah (Alexis) Redford, Meghan (Wyatt) Whitmer, Graycee Redford, Oliver Redford, Zach Hardy, Christopher Hardy, Kaitlyn Kunelius, Jacob Laveezo, Sydnee (Jake) Ramero, Kylee (Jackson) Day, Baylee Hardy, Ashlee Hardy, Chance Dunn, Bryce (Kenzie) Dunn, McKenna Dunn, Moises Nava, Xavier Nava, Shaniah Hardy and 33 great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband Larry Ray Hardyand her sisters Gayla Stauffer, Jan (Johnny) Armijo and Sheri Haight. Sisters-in-law, Janice (Bob) Ellis, Jeanne (Larry) Jewekes, Hal Hardy. Preceded in death by her parents Read and Golda Croxford, sister Jeanine Peterson, her first husband David White, Mel Murphy and grandson Tristen Murphy.

The funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 9, 2024 at the LDS Ward house located 3070 East Nila Way in Holladay, Ut. A viewing will be held Friday evening March 8, 2024 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. as well as Saturday morning from 10:00-10:45 AM prior to the funeral services. Interment will follow at Wasatch Lawns Memorial Park 3401 S Highland Dr, Millcreek, UT.
