Dexter Fredrick Davis

Dec 8, 1933 Oct 12, 2022

Our sweet, kind, loving, dad, father, grandfather and Papa Great, Dexter Fredrick Davis went to live with our Heavenly Father on Wednesday, October 12th, 2022. He was born in Garland, Utah on December 8th, 1933 to Mark Fredrick Davis and Ora Marie Reese Davis. When he was three the family moved to Preston, Idaho.

Dex grew up in Preston, with his brothers Ivan and Malin. He was a rascal in his younger years just ask his neighbor Nellie whose pig tails he removed with a snip snip.

Dex was very involved in his high school years at Preston High. He was junior class president and student body president when he was a senior. He played baseball, football and basketball. He also participated in high school plays, the debate team and Boys State.

Dex attended Utah State University before and after his LDS Mission to Uruguay-Paraguay from 1954-1956. He graduated from USU on June 6th, 1959. Never one to let grass grow under his feet he was married to Kay Rodgers on June 11th, 1959 in the Salt Lake Temple.

Kay and Dex moved to the mid-west where they had many cherished experiences. Dex earned his MBA from the University of Missouri at Kanas City. He was employed in Human Resources for his life’s work at Ralston Purina, St. Louis, Missouri; Hercules, Salt Lake City, Utah; and Lawrence, Kansas; Hallmark Cards, Kansas City and Topeka, Kansas; Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Salt Lake City, Utah; Surety Life/Lincoln Benefit Life, Salt Lake City, Utah.

Dex loved to serve his Heavenly Father as a ward clerk, Elders Quorum President, Bishop, High Councilor and his favorite calling as Young Men President influencing the youth for good.

In his years of wisdom he served a mission to Chile, South America with Kay, his eternal companion. They also served a mission on Temple Square where they made many cherished friendships.

He loved any sport involving a ball but mostly his beloved Boston Red Sox. BYU Cougars, Bostin Celtics, USU Aggies and the Utah Jazz. He loved genealogy and had hundreds of Heavenly Fathers children waiting in line to thank him for finding them and submitting their name for temple ordinances.

Missing him are his wife Kay; daughter Chaille’ and her husband Kevin Mackie; Tiffanie and her husband Brian Allinson; grandchildren Alie and her husband Brooks Jenkins, Connor and his wife Shaylynn Mackie; Courtland and his wife Lacy Mackie, Tiana and her husband Zeke Wilkerson and Adam and his wife Avery Allinson; also his 12 beautiful great grandkids.

We especially want to thank all of Dex’s healthcare heroes who so lovingly served him. His infusion nurses are our family. We are blessed to have his grandchildren Tiana and Zeke who wholehearted gave countless hours attending to him.

We will honor Dex’s life on Wednesday, October 19th, 2022 at 1:00 PM at the Summerhill Stake Center, 12110 South 1300 West, Riverton, Utah with a viewing 12:00 to 12:45 PM.
