DeVere R Christensen

Aug 21, 1934 Feb 28, 2023

DeVere R Christensen, DDS, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on February 28, 2023, in St. George, Utah. Chris, as he was known by family and friends, was born in Bear River City, Utah to Rasmus and Etta Christensen. After graduating from Bear River High School, Chris moved to Salt Lake City where he attended the University of Utah. It was at the “U” where Chris met the love of his life and future wife, Ann. His college career was temporarily interrupted when he was drafted into the United States Army, serving as a dental technician for two years in the Mohave Desert at Camp Irwin. After receiving an honorable discharge, Chris returned to Salt Lake City where he married Ann on April 1, 1961 (and no, this was not an “April Fool’s Day” joke). From this point on it was the “Chris and Ann” show for the next 62 wonderful years. Chris graduated from Westminster College with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a minor in English. After graduating, Chris and Ann moved to Chicago where he attended the Loyola School of Dentistry. They eventually returned to Salt Lake City where he had a successful dental practice for the next 33 years. Chris’s hobbies and interests were as varied and numerous as his friends. He was an avid hunter and fisher, enjoying all outdoor activities. Despite being a known “sandbagger” on the golf course, especially when money was on the line, he still managed to hit three “hole in ones” during his golf career. Chris also collected coins, made jewelry for friends and family, was a licensed pilot as well as a certified scuba diver. He and Ann enjoyed many scuba diving adventures with friends and family in the Caribbean over the years. Chris is survived by his wife, Ann, three sons John (Penny), Craig (Chanin) and Jeffrey (Whitney) and seven grandchildren, Hailey (Adam), Harrison (Cheyenne), Alexis, Cole, Owen, Cooper and Chloe. Chris is preceded in death by his parents Rasmus and Etta, his siblings, Pat and Hope and his son, Peter.
