Dean Dorian Carroll

1929 ~ 2023

Dean Dorian Carroll—beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather, and uncle—passed away on Monday, February 13, 2023, at the age of 93, in the home of his youngest son surrounded by family members. After more than 14 years apart, he is finally reunited with his eternal companion, D. Ileen Morrison, who waited patiently for him on the other side of the veil.

Dean was born to Ernest LeRoi and Lillian Bolton Carroll on June 26, 1929, in Kaysville, Utah. Dean met his sweetheart while working at a local gas station by the bus stop Ileen frequented. They were married and sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on June 6, 1952.

Dean was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as a missionary in the England British Mission. He served in numerous church callings, but his favorite was serving with his wife in their Stake Family History Center as Director for over ten years. He was a Korean War veteran celebrated for his service in the Army. Dean worked in the Elevator Industry for many years which included servicing many temples throughout the United States and Canada for the LDS Church. About 30 years of weekends and summer visits were spent at the cabin he designed and built in the Uintas with the help of his children; thus, combining his love for his family with his love for the mountains. Dean was a habitual reader; he had a passion for books regarding the true gospel of Jesus Christ. He delighted in speaking about his life experiences to anyone who would listen. He loved to tease and joke with everyone and was always quick with the one-liners. (His sense of humor may or may not have been passed onto his children).

Preceded in death by his loving wife, his parents, all of his siblings: Dorothy Clark Meadows, Ernest LeRoi “E.L.” Carroll Jr., Donald Carroll, and C. Thomas Carroll; a son-in-law Dustin Forgie, a daughter-in-law Carrie Carroll, and a grandson Gregg Rushton.

Survived by his 10 children: Sheri Forgie, Craig (Carol) Carroll, Mary (Delbert) Rushton, Cathy (Gary) Fisher, Tamara (Thomas) Reed, Cynthia (Richard) Foote, Diana (Mike) Olson, Ruth (Mike) Denney, Julie (Michael) Banks, and Dorian (Kim) Carroll; 29 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.
