David was a 1964 graduate of Great Band High School and a 1973 graduate of Kansas State University. He was a Navy combat veteran of the Vietnam War, serving on the USS Towers. On December 30th, 1972, David married Cathy Leigh Maston in Hampton, Virginia. David was a devout Christian, who loved family, the outdoors, hunting, and fishing. He cherished spending time laughing with his sons, going for long walks with his dog Ike, having coffee with friends, and living in the mountains. Cathy was the love of his life.

David is survived by his wife, Cathy Moffat of Salt Lake City, UT; his sons, David Moffat of Park City, Utah, and James Moffat and Jonathan Moffat of Salt Lake City, Utah; his sister, Marilyn Atkinson of Hutchinson, Kansas; and his brothers, Dr. Robert Moffat of Prairie Village, Kansas and Larry Moffat of Kansas City, KS.

David was preceded in death by his parents, James and Lucy Moffat.

A graveside service will be held at the Utah Veterans Cemetery at 10AM on December 21st, 2020.
