I’ll miss the countless times that you said

“I love you” to me each and every day.

The countless times that you showed

your love in a kind and caring way.

I miss our times together.

Cherished memories will remain.

I’ll hold you tightly within my heart,

until we’re together again.

I fell in love with you from the start.

You’ll be forever in my heart.

I love you. You are my forever.

David (Dave) was born on November 21, 1941 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Adolphus and Mabel House. He attended South High School and the University of Utah. He married his high school sweetheart, Peggy Ruth Jensen, on June 23, 1961 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Together they had ten children and three foster children, and spent the first fifteen years of marriage in Salt Lake City. They built a home in Layton, Utah, where they have lived for 42 years. Dave had a love for the outdoors, especially Southern Utah, and shared that love with his children. Our memories with him camping, hiking, biking, river rafting, and jeeping, will be treasured always.

Dave was the President and CEO of Engineered Control Systems. He volunteered with the Boy Scouts of America for 37 years and received the honor of the Silver Beaver Award, a council-level distinguished service award.

He spent his life serving others. He volunteered with Be the Match to recruit bone marrow donors, served with the Jeep Patrol Search and Rescue in Moab, Utah, and was a certified EMT with Wilderness EMT training. Dave was a service-oriented and faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He served on the Stake High Council, served two Stake missions, and a two year service mission at the Bishop’s Storehouse. He volunteered for many years with the youth in his ward and with the special needs activity program, and loved every moment spent with them.

A kinder and more generous man could not be found. Dave truly lived a life full of service toward others. Dave was always seen helping neighbors and friends, and providing care and help to his family. He was truly an exemplary husband, father, grandfather, neighbor, and friend.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents, and three sisters: Wanda House, Nola Leavitt, and Evelyn Stokes. He is survived by his loving wife, Peggy House: his sisters: Daphine Johnson of Dallas, TX and Lorna Snow of St. George; by his ten children: Jeffrey House (Iva Jean) of Clarkston; Jodi Eaton; Jyll Waters (Steve) of Alpine, Jennifer Schaub Dickson (Michael) of South Weber, James House (Robyn) of Farmington, ME; Julianne Grose (Joel) of Provo; Janette Schimpf (Tom) of Sandy; JanaLee Moses of Tooele; JaNae Wales (Craig) of Layton, and Jason House (Jayne) of Salt Lake City; and by 45 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

To honor Dave’s life, spend some time in the outdoors with your family, do something for a neighbor or friend, and eat a Snickers candy bar.

Funeral services will be held Friday, February 22, 2019 at 11 a.m. at the Oak Forest Ward, 2250 E. 2200 N., Layton. Friends may visit family Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road and Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.

Guestbook

Went to South High with Dave. He was always a quiet gentleman. Fun reading about his many accomplishments in life. As we leave High School we get lost in the world. It was nice to make a connection again, remembering Dave, and seeing his many accomplishments in life. Love to the family!
