It is with great sadness to share that David Ferraro has passed away at the age of 77 from a long hard-fought battle with kidney disease. He was born in East Rutherford, NJ on December 1st, 1946, to Samson Ruel Ferraro and Geraldine Alice Laudato-Ferraro. He grew up from the mid 1940’s thru early 1960’s in a very close tight-nit Italian, “tip of the boot Calabrese”, family. He had an older sister, Judith “Judy” and 2 younger siblings, Geraldine “Geri” and Robert. He attended East Rutherford High School and enjoyed playing sports and studying academics.
He moved to Logan, UT in the mid 1960’s to attend Utah State University and graduated in 1971. After college he moved to Salt Lake City, UT and started his 30-year career in radio sales. In 1983 he started a family and had two sons Joseph and Ty; whom he named after baseball players, Joe DiMaggio, and Ty Cobb. He was the most enthusiastic fan of the New York Yankees, particularly of Mickey Mantle, Derek Jeter, and Aaron Judge, In the fall, David was loyal to the New York Giants. You could say part of him was still firmly planted in the East.
David had many friends over the years, including his childhood friends that he remained very close with: Frank, Donald, Tommy, and Harry. He would often talk about their many childhood adventures and the good old times together.
Once David became a grandpa, he was completely invested in his grandchildren, he loved them more than anything Harper, Jeter, Liah, and Camden. He was always bringing little trinkets or gifts, but most importantly sweets. He would bring sweet treats to share with his grandchildren, sitting and sharing a slice of lemon cake was when he was most happy. He spent most of his later years with his son Joe, his daughter-in-law Britni, and his grandchildren Harper and Jeter (also named after baseball players). David enjoyed attending Jeter’s baseball games and was always so impressed at his talent. David enjoyed talking about school and art with Harper, he was always saying how smart she is. Although being a grandpa was David’s absolute favorite, he loved many other things: he loved the beach and palm trees, he loved rooting for his alma mater Utah State, the Yankees and Giants, he loved feeding the geese at his condo and he loved playing poker.
David was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his children Joe (Britni) Ferraro (grandchildren) Harper and Jeter of Utah; Ty Ferraro (grandchildren) Liah and Camden of Utah. Siblings: Judy Ferraro of New Jersey; Geri (Bob) Ferrell of New Jersey; Robert (Melinda) Ferraro of Wisconsin.
TO DAD: You Always Had My Back, I Love you
FATHER
“A father is that special someone we depend on when we’re growing up, and come to fully appreciate when we are grown”
Rest in peace, your loving son,
