Darwin Len Carlson, age 71, passed away on June 14, 2020 in Murray, Utah. He was born on June 9, 1949 in Murray, Utah to Ray and Ruth Coats Carlson. He married his beloved wife, Patricia Tousley Carlson on February 19, 1972.

Darwin was a decorated war veteran that served in Vietnam. During his service in the United States Army, he received several awards and medals for his accomplishments. Among these are: The Purple Heart, and the Bronze Star Medal with Valor. These are given to the U.S. Soldiers who have been wounded during service and shown immense courage and heroism during combat.

He was strong, funny, sarcastic, and quick-whitted. The rules never seemed to apply to him. He would give anyone a hard time, but with humor and love. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing, and playing pool or shooting darts at Willie’s Tavern. He was fond of any sport where drinking beer was a staple. He loved spending time with his friends and family, and especially adored his four grandchildren.

He is survived by his beloved wife Pat Carlson, children: Candace Carlson, Darlene Castano, Bryan Carlson, his granddaughters: Dominique (Lexy), Ayla, Alexis, Alyssa. His siblings: Glen (Kathy) Carlson, Kenny (Debbie) Carlson, Roger (Terry) Carlson, and Cindy (Ron) Davis.

He is preceded in death by his parents: Ray and Ruth Carlson, and his sisters: Diane Andrews and Shelia Erikson.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 22, 2020 at Memorial Redwood Mortuary and Cemetery 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah 84123 at 11:00 AM. A viewing will begin two hours prior at 9:00 AM. Interment will be at Memorial Redwood Cemetery.

Due to the landscape of COVID-19, all gatherings are limited to no more than 50 people in the building at the same time. Memorial Mortuaries is offering a free live stream of the services, and instructions are below.

e. Select “Call using internet audio”

f. Select “mute” in the bottom left hand corner so that your audio does not interrupt the funeral services.
