On the morning of February 1, our dear friend Darryll Peterson passed away at fifty-one years of age.
Darryll led a life of love and kindness. She epitomized Christian goodness; her life guided by her Savior’s simple appeal to love one another. Her first thought was never for herself, but for the many in her life for whom she cared so deeply. She carried with her the remarkable gift of lifting the spirits of everyone with whom she interacted. Darryll had a unique love for art, nature, and music. She saw beauty, and occasion for gratitude everywhere she turned. She will be deeply missed by her family and loved ones.
Darryll fought bravely to overcome addiction, and along the way she instilled hope in so many in her community. Prior to her passing, she had successfully maintained five years of sobriety, something she held dear and with great commitment and pride. Her example inspired others to seek help, and to have confidence that they could surmount addiction in their own lives. She was an inspiration and light to many.
Darryll, you are loved and you will be missed by so many… by those you were helping lift out of hopelessness and addictions… by those whose lives you touched with your goodness… by your Relief Society Sisters and ward family… and by your family, including your son, Hudson, your siblings, Jo Lake, Jennifer Kristie Lake, and Steven Travis Lake, and your mother and father, Terrie and Steve Lake. You will be welcomed into the arms of your father Darrell Peterson and grandparents Heber and Carolynn Peterson and Clarence and Alberta Locke.
Because of Jesus Christ, we believe that our relationship with you will continue, and that through the Atonement of Jesus Christ the eternities are progressive; we hold the joy that we know we will feel at our eventual reunion with you deep in our hearts. We are proud of you. We are so deeply grateful for the joy and kindness you brought to all of our lives.
We love you dearly and forever, Darryll.
