Darrell Sylvan Hendricks

Jan 14, 1935 Jun 22, 2021

Darrell Sylvan Hendricks, age 86, passed away on June 22, 2021, in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was born on January 14, 1935, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Cynthia Adelia Whitehead and Sylvan Thomas Hendricks. He married Carolynn L. Bockholt on 3/31/1954.

Dad trained animals for Walt Disney Films, (4) films: Perri the Ready Tailed Squirrel, Rusty and the Falcon, Day at Teton Marsh, and The Wahoo Bobcat. Dad loved animals, he enjoyed watching birds and studying all kinds of animals. Educating others or helping others with their animals. There wasn’t anything he couldn’t help you with. Fixing things, plumbing, school projects for the grandkids. We always called Dad. He loved fishing, hunting, camping, rock hunting, making jewelry with the gems that he collected, bought, and traded. We went on many rock hunting trips to Topaz mountain, camping and fishing at Utah Lake, ice fishing at Flaming Gorge. He enjoyed teaching his grandchildren and great grandchildren about all kinds of things. Dad worked with Mountain Fuel before his plumbing career. He was a plumber by trade. He was with the Plumbers & Steamfitters Local 19 for over 60 years. He traveled out of town off and on for many years. He worked for Climate Control for most of his plumbing career. As a young boy, Dad spent a lot of time on the Jordan river fishing and trapping muskrat and beaver. He enjoyed duck hunting at the duck club.

He is survived by his wife: Carolynn L. Bockholt, children: Steven S. Hendricks, Kamie L. Vailea, Bradley J. (wife-Shelly) Hendricks, Sheryl L. Hendricks, sister: Dianna Brown, brothers: Robert “Bob” (wife-Ann) Hendricks, George Hendricks, 12 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, son-in-law Laren Eggleston, and brother-in-law Richard “Dick” Gilbert.
