“Loving husband of 50 years” Darrel Gene Clegg, 74, passed away suddenly on December 19th, 2020 in Salt Lake City, UT. He was born on November 19th, 1946 to Dee and Dorothy Clegg in Salt Lake City, UT. He graduated from Skyline High School in 1965. After graduating, he served his mission in the Central British Mission (Churchs Best Mission) from 1966-1968. He enjoyed showing off his Mach 1. He married his eternal companion, Shauna Clegg, on April 9th, 1970. He was an avid Utes fan and enjoyed going to games when he had the opportunity. He started in construction at a young age and worked hard to the point of becoming a co-owner of D&D Reconstruction with his business partner Delynn Kirkham.
He was a role model not only to his children but to many others he came in contact with. He enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s events (baseball games, dance recitals, cheer competitions).
Darrel was preceded in death by his parents, Dee and Dorothy Clegg, wife, Shauna Clegg, sister Sharon Muir, and grandson Jacob Hutcheson.
He is survived by 3 sons and 2 daughters, Lance (Barbara) Clegg, Tiffany Marath, William (Heather) Clegg, Amber Owens, Andrew (Annie) Clegg. 10 grandchildren, Miranda, Megan, Braxton, Noah, Anna Caite, Jackson, Hayley, Joshua, Madison and Braydon and brother Ralph (Kristen) Clegg.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 26, 2020 at 2:00 PM at Memorial Mountain View Mortuary, 3115 East 7800 South, Cottonwood Heights, Utah. A viewing for family and friends will be held at the same location 2 hours prior to the funeral service. Interment will follow at Memorial Mountain View Cemetery.
Following Salt Lake County’s mandate on facial coverings, face masks are required at all public gatherings. Social distancing will be enforced.
