Cindy, our much loved mother, sister, doggie grandma, and friend, passed away on Saturday, June 17, 2023. She was born in Salt Lake City, Utah to Ruth Howarth Mays, and John Mays on October 26, 1959. Cindy was a firecracker her whole life. Her signature laugh could be heard from a mile away. She enjoyed loud music and watching the Sound of Music at top volume while she went about her day. Cindy enjoyed the hospitality business, working at various hotels and car rental agencies; at one point even owning a hostel in the Avenues for wayward travelers. She found joy in making sure everyone she came across who was in need had a meal and a place to stay. She was an excellent cook and was always experimenting with new ingredients and recipes, much to the delight of those who were invited to dinner. Cindy spent some time as a young woman living in Hawaii where she learned that she loved the sun and sand before returning to Utah to settle down.
Cindy married Edward Franklin Peebles in 1988 and became a mother to her much beloved only son Zachariah in October of 1991. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Michael Mays. In addition to her son, she is survived by her two other siblings John and Patricia Mays, and many, many friends.
At Cindy's request there will be no funeral or other services.

Cindy wasn't my aunt, but that's what I called her anyway..... she almost insisted that I do. Ive known Aunt Cindy my whole, life she was my mom's best friend since highschool. We ended up being pretty close as well because we are both Scorpios and we bonded over that feeling kindred. Sometimes we would laugh about the way we are, In your face and intense but fun loving with big hearts, hopeless romantics with a bit of a player streak. She was so hilarious! Oh man I miss that laugh it's been so long ...I can't believe she's gone! Cindy had such a big presence, it felt warm in her company. She had a huge energy a bright light. Most definitely a force to be reckened with- but she had such a kind heart and loving spirit. She always came across to me is very very wise she knew what she was talking about when she spoke and if she didn't she tell you so throw her hands in the air and shake her head and laugh. We always had amazing conversations the only thing that could possibly interrupt them was if a good song came on. She taught me along with my mom had a play bones, ship Captain Crew, and Zilch. Still one of my fondest memories is listening to my mom and Aunt Cindy and sometimes their other friends just depended but I could hear them even if I was playing outside if one of them scored because youd hear "bwoop bwoop!". I remember spending time in the avenues at the hospice with her and Ed... it was such a cool place I liked it outside a lot I remember sitting in the hammock and hopping from rock to rock.... I was so young then. She always seemed so hip to me. I'm grateful for the time I spent with her in my young life and as an adult especially. She was very special to me, I loved her dearly. The last time we spoke was just recently and she was talking about coming to visit us in Florida as a surprise for my mom. We would have loved to have her, especially my mom. I deeply regret that she left us before it could happen. I love you Aunt Cindy! I'll miss you always. "Cheers to you... who's like us damn few....." I'll make yours godlike.

Aunt Cindy u was one of the favorites when I was younger u would come pick up me and cousin Adrianne and we would go swimming at ur apartments one time u took us hourse back ridding on hourses. I remember us being flower girls for ur wedding. You had took me in ur home a few times through out my life and u even watched my two boys while my dad was at work. You always had some amazing awesome stories to tell about you living in Hawaii. And I could never forget about the time we was in the St. Patrick's Day parade. I'll never forget aunt Cindy to come pick me up in her VW bug u was awesome. I'll never forget when u found out u was pregnant with Zach and when u had him. Grammy Ruth was so happy the baby of the grandkids and a boy. I'll never forget when u took me to my doctors appointment when I was pregnant found out I was having a boy then took me out to lunch. And I'll never forget our trip with Grammy going to visit aunt Patricia and Cassidy. And I'll never forget the trip Grammy took us to Mexico u wasn't there but Zach was. Your laugh was contagious your smile was big and your happiness light up a room. May your soul be at peace and rest in love aunt Cindy. I'm so saddened to hear about u passing away it hurts my soul I hope ur at peace. If u see my father and grandmother tell them I love them and dream about them all the time.
