Clyde Dean George

Clyde Dean George, 90, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather passed away on April 10, 2023. He was born March 24, 1933 to Emerson Parley George and Ruth Sabin George in Heyburn, Idaho. Clyde’s family moved to Ogden as a young boy where he attended Ogden City schools including Ogden High School.

Following his service in the US Air Force during the Korean War, Clyde returned home to Ogden to work at Hill Air Force Base where he met the love of his life, Norma Jean Travis. They were married June 12, 1959 and had three children. Upon retirement from Hill Air Force Base, he and Norma Jean took many trips together traveling to various places around the United States as well as abroad. In his spare time, Clyde enjoyed wood working and built many beautiful pieces including wooden cars and furniture. He also remodeled the kitchen of the home he and Norma Jean lived in for 63 years together. Another hobby he enjoyed was gardening. He always had a beautiful garden of vegetables that he generously shared.

Clyde dearly loved his family and loved spending time with all of his children, grandchildren and great grandchild.

Clyde was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Parley, Henry Dale and Gerald, one sister, Ruth; and his granddaughter, Jacquelyn George. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Norma Jean George; his children, Paula Chu of North Salt Lake, UT; Tim (Donna) George of Langley, WA; Dianna (Curtis) Gerhardt of Roy, UT; five grandchildren, Connor George of Freeland, WA, Camille George of Mukilteo, WA, Bailey Gerhardt of Ogden, UT, Thomas Chu of North Salt Lake, UT, and Cole Chu of North Salt Lake, UT; one great grandson, Jaxen Chankhio of Ogden, UT; and one sister, Carol (Elliot) Thurman of Hooper, UT.

A Celebration of Life honoring Clyde will be held at Clearfield Community Church, 525 E. 200 S., Clearfield, UT, on Monday, April 17, 2023 at 11:00am.
