Clyde Hugh Earl, age 78, died February 4, 2023 in Salt Lake City, Utah from complications of lung cancer.

He was born on March 22, 1944 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Hugh Earl and Verna Centennial (Bell) Earl.

Clyde grew up in Sugarhouse and graduated from Highland High School Class of 1962. He then married Lane (Atkinson) Earl (1963) and together they had two daughters, Sheri and Christine, and one son Scott.

They later divorced. He married Sheri (Martinez, Ziegler) Earl (1994) and together they had one daughter Alicia.

Clyde proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. In 1972, the 19th Special Forces Group was reorganized and CSM Earl, then an E-4, was assigned as commo chief for the newly formed company C 1st battalion. While in company C, Clyde participated in SF operations in the Arizona desert and SW

Florida. He later served with the 19th in SF operations in Guam, South Korea, Okinawa, Thailand, Luzon and the Mariana Islands. Clyde was always diligent and conscientious in all his military duties. He made several lifelong friendships and was a positive influence on many young Special Forces soldiers. He was a credit to the 1st Special Forces Regiment. As a civilian, Clyde was a successful advertising executive at Newspaper Agency Corporation and Alan Frank & Associates.

Clyde lived a full and exciting life. In addition to parachuting out of airplanes, he enjoyed duck hunting, fly fishing, golfing, snow and water skiing,camping, traveling, riding motorcycles and piloting his Piper Cherokee 235 airplane. He was an accomplished professional photographer including a stint with the

Utah Jazz. He co-owned a tailor shop in California where he handmade custom-tailored suits. He loved to host backyard barbecues for his family and friends but was happiest just gazing into the distance with

a bourbon and cigar and his dog Shilo by his side. He was a proud member of the Quiet Birdmen organization.

He is survived by his wife Sheri, daughters Sheri Young (Rick), Christine Larson, Alicia Brooks (Dillon) son Scott Earl, granddaughters Jackie Young, Haley Reynolds (Zak), Linsey Williams (Cahn), grandsons Brady Larson, Hayden Earl, Preston Earl, Jordan Earl and great-grandchildren Oaklee, Kash and Charlee.

Preceded in death by his father, mother and brother Max C. Evans.

Clyde was a kind, generous and wonderful man who was loved by many. He will be deeply missed.

A Celebration of Life will be held Wednesday, March 22, 2023 from 5:00pm to 9:00pm at Canyon Peak Events, 1442 Draper Parkway, Draper, Utah 84020.

A Memorial Service will take place Thursday, March 23, 2023 at 12:00 hours at the Utah Veterans Cemetery & Memorial Park, 17111 S Redwood Rd, Bluffdale, Utah 84065.
