It is with heavy hearts and peaceful minds that today we share with you the passing of our dear sweet mother, stepmother, grandmother and friend, Cleo J. Porritt. Cleo struggled with Alzheimer’s Disease for the past few years and passed peacefully in her sleep of natural causes.

Cleo was born at Sweets Mining Camp in Carbon County Utah to Elmo and Anna Jones, the second of two children. Cleo’s brother Lyle Dee Jones preceded her in death. Cleo grew up in Carbonville Ut. attending schools in Helper and Price. She married Rawlin Brundage and together they raised five children. They were divorced in 1969.

In 1972 Cleo married the love of her life Bob Porritt. Together they finished raising several boys from both families. They loved being a couple and spending time with family and friends.

Mom and Bob loved being outdoors and traveling in their RV visiting many places throughout the U.S. Mom was an avid Quilter. She made many quilts for her family, often times with Bobs help. She loved reading in bed or with her feet propped up on the oven door and the oven running. She enjoyed genealogy and was considered to be the family historian. Mom loved organizing family reunions, many of which were held at Ben and Myrna’s Ranch in Nine Mile Canyon. Mom loved boating, riding on jet skis, running dune buggies at the sand dunes and especially loved driving her ATVs. Mom loved dogs and always had at least one or more.

Mom and Bob were members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and were married and sealed together in the Salt Lake Temple.

Cleo is preceded in death by her husband Bob Porritt. Her father Elmo Jones. Her mother Annie (& Bill) Hamilton. Her Brother Dee Jones. Her daughter and son Linda and Joel Brundage.

Cleo is survived by her sons and their families, Robert and Janet Porritt, Kris and Janette Porritt, Craig Brundage, Lane and April Porritt, Mike and Tina Brundage, Barry and Candi Brundage, Brian and Michelle Porritt and many, many grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the Staff of the “Barrington Place Alzheimer’s Special Care Center” in Clinton Utah for their tender and loving care of our mother while she was living at their facility.

I'm sorry to hear of Cleos passing. She and Bob were our neighbors when we first moved to this neighborhood. She was the sweetest lady. We really enjoyed the short time we had with her before Bob passed and she moved away.
