Claudeen Guevara
July 1, 1947 – June 10, 2025
Claudeen Althea Jones Guevara (77) was born in Aberdeen, WA, to Claude Hibbard Jones and Georgia Fern Myers. She was the third of ten children. During her life, she lived in many places throughout Washington, Idaho, and Utah. She graduated from Bingham High School when it was located in Copperton, Utah. She attended Cosmetology school at Salt Lake Community College and was a hairdresser for many years. She also worked in a hospital, a care center, and helped her husband, Richard, run their cabinet and furniture business in Lewiston, Idaho.
Claudeen married Richard Guevara in 1973. They divorced, but got re-married in 1977, and were sealed in the Jordan River Temple in 2001. She became an instant stepmom to Rich and Randy when they were very young, and always treated them as her own. Richard and Claudeen adopted their daughter Katherine Michelle in 1979. Claudeen was a loving and kind wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, daughter, aunt, and friend.
The latter part of Claudeen’s life included much physical pain and suffering. She needed a cane, walker, and eventually wheelchair to get around; but she did not complain. She passed away in a care center in Nephi, Utah, after being a resident for over a year. The family joke was that she was like a cat with 9 lives, and she overcame death at least that many times. Between serious car accidents, falling through a plate glass window, major brain surgery, many joint replacement surgeries, a serious stroke in which she was declared braindead, and more; she lived to bless all of our lives for many years longer than the medical professionals ever expected.
Claudeen was a very friendly person and could talk to anyone. She had such interesting stories from her life. She loved television and movies, and had such a great memory for the actors and plots This was a great combination that gave her something to talk about to just about anyone she met.
Despite the physical pain she lived with for much of her life, she served in many ways. For years, she would crochet winter hats and donate them for those in need. She donated hundreds of hats, along with many afghans. She enjoyed serving with Richard in the LDS Church Bishop’s Storehouse in Sanpete County, Utah, where she could visit with and help those in need.
Claudeen is survived by her husband, Richard (Fairview, Utah), her son Rich and his wife Niki (Taylorsville, Utah), son Randy and his wife Kristina (South Jordan, Utah), and her daughter Michelle (Fairview, Utah). She has 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Georgia Jean Romero and husband Richard (Lewiston, Idaho), brothers James Eric Jones (Priest River, Idaho) and Jon Shelby Jones (Tucson, Arizona). She is preceded in death by her parents Claude and Fern Jones, and siblings Merlin Lee Jones, Sandra DeAnn Jones Jorgensen, Jerry Myers Jones, Katherine Louise Jones Butterfield, Claude Jones, Jr., and Peggy Irene Jones Holden.
