It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Christian Aaron Nix. Christian departed this world on January 19, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of public service and love.
Christian was born on March 3, 1975, in Florence, AZ. He was raised in Utah, mostly in the Salt Lake and Orem areas. He grew up with a strong sense of duty and commitment, with a love for his family, football, and sports, including WWE Wrestling. He was a Utah Utes and Boston Bruins fan. Chris loved anything Scottish and was proud of his Scottish heritage.
His journey led him to serve a voluntary mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and then to a life-long career in law enforcement. During his career, he received both a Combat Cross Award and a Life –Saving Award for outstanding service and courage. His career began with the State of Utah, which later led him to the Summit County Sheriff Department where he worked for many years and served on the CIRT team. He also lived and worked in law enforcement in Texas, Wyoming, and Colorado. Most recently he resided in Colorado where he was employed by Weld County Sheriff Department. His values of discipline, loyalty, courage, and service would define his character throughout his life.
He is survived by his wife, Rhoda Nix, 2 daughters (Brittney Medrano and Ryland Nix), and one grandson. He is further survived by his father, Bill Nix (Rauni); mother, Lexann Hoogstra (Jay); and beloved brother, Joshua Nix and his children; as well as numerous cousins and many friends.
Christian was a devoted husband, father, brother, son, and friend. He will be missed by many.
In remembering Christian, let us celebrate his life marked by service, love, and sacrifice. He had a light in him and a smile that could light up any room. A memorial service to honor and remember Christian was previously held in Greeley, Colorado.
