May 5, 1948 Sep 29, 2023

It is with profound sadness and a sense of relief that we announce the passing of our beloved Cheryl. Born on May 5, 1948, Cheryl departed this world on September 29, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and enduring grace. She was born in Bremerton, Washington to Irene Hadley and Dale Walker. Later adopted by Richard Y. Dorton, Cheryl was the oldest of 5 siblings and raised in Ogden, Utah.

Despite the recent physical constraints that challenged her, Cheryl exuded a vibrancy that touched the lives of all fortunate enough to know her. Her passing is a bittersweet blessing, freeing her from a body that wouldn't cooperate while leaving us with treasured memories of the vibrant, beautiful soul we were privileged to call mother, sister, and friend.

Cheryl was the embodiment of selflessness, always putting others before herself. Her kindness knew no boundaries, extending even to those she had never met. A true social butterfly, Cheryl effortlessly forged connections, making everyone feel seen and loved.

A masterful artist, Cheryl's love for gardening and painting was nothing short of magical. She had the ability to transform the simplest home and garden into havens of warmth, comfort, and wondrous beauty. Her green thumb seemed to work miracles, as she could grow anything with love and care.

As a mother, sister, daughter, and grandmother, Cheryl excelled beyond measure. Her love for her family was boundless, and she leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and compassion. Cheryl is survived by her devoted husband, Dean Howard, her daughter Jennifer Holmes (Colby), sister Keely Deanna Dorton Shurtz (Mark), brother Bradley Richard Dorton, bonus daughters Emily Rogers (Milan) and Alison Anderson (Brian), bonus son Briant Howard (Chanté), and all their families, including numerous grandchildren. Cheryl is preceded in death by her parents and siblings Susan “Susie” Irene Dorton & Robert Dale Walker Dorton.

While Cheryl will be deeply missed, we take solace in knowing that she has ascended to become our guardian angel, watching over us until we are reunited in the realms beyond. Her memory will forever be etched in our hearts, and the love she showered upon us will continue to inspire and guide us through the journey of life.

Friends and family are invited to join in remembering and honoring this remarkable woman who brought so much light and love into our lives.

May Cheryl rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the beauty she so effortlessly created in this world.
