We’re sad to let our friends know that Charles Stock passed away on May 10, 2021 at the University Hospital after three weeks of trying to save and improve his quality of life through heart surgery. He had, cheerfully, endured complications of COPD and congestive heart disease for years.

It was great to be his kid or grandkid or wife or friend because he always thought you were, and he made you feel like you were, the most incredible person he knew. He is survived by everyone in his family except his parents, Lucy & Jerry Stock, which includes his two children, Mark and spouse Nicole Ohlsson Stock, and Sariah and spouse Dallin Brooks; 11 grandchildren (Jaden, Seth, Kam, McCall and Naomi, Eliza, Chas, Marko, Lucy, Calvin, Isaac), his sister Ellie and spouse Jim Redington, and his adored wife of 55 years, Doris Meese Stock.

From the child playing in the creek behind their house in Ridgewood, NJ to the young man meeting jazz stars, poets, and painters in Greenwich Village in the 60’s, to the old man attending the Shakespeare Festival in Cedar City, Charlie had a full and wonderful life. He served in Army Intelligence during the Cold War doing spy work in Germany and Russia. He played backgammon with his grandkids and golfed with his friends. He built beautiful bookshelves in his workshop and caught fish off the deck of his well loved 36’ Hatteras. His life changed for the better in 1996 when he joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He loved his career in sales, his travels in Europe, and eating good food, but more than all of those things, he loved his family.

Charlie had a vibrancy that filled his life and the room. When his spirit passed into the Spirit World he took all of that humor and charisma and vivacity with him. We can only hope he passed on some of that giant personality to his kids and grandkids. We already sorely miss him.

The funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 15 at 11:30 AM at 8485 S. 1000 E. Sandy, UT 84094. Family and friends are invited to a viewing prior to the service (10:30 AM). The graveside dedication will be at 1 PM at Mountain View Memorial (3115 E. 7800 S. Cottonwood Heights, UT 84121).
