Our sweet mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Catherine Crawford Rollins, passed away peacefully in her home on January 13, 2021 after an extended battle with cancer. Catherine and her twin sister Caroline were born March 29, 1941 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Jedediah T. Crawford and Margaret Brown. She was the youngest of six children. Her twin sister, an older sister and her only brother all passed away within a few years of each other leaving just Cathy and her 2 sisters, Helen and Margaret. Cathy spent her first several years of life in Boneta where her family farmed and raised cattle.

Her father heard of work available in Tooele and they soon all moved to Salt Lake City. Cathy graduated from Granite High School where she had played clarinet in the school band. A few years later she met her eternal companion, Gary Rollins, and they married August 25, 1961 in the Salt Lake City Temple. After a few years they moved to Sugarhouse where they raised their 7 children.

Cathy had varied interests throughout her life but there was nothing that she loved more than her family. From the weekly card games with her mother, sisters and niece, Jo Ann to the extended family holiday progressive dinners, she truly loved being with her family. Later as her family grew, her children would laugh at the fact that she would tell them she would “really love” for them all to get together for a particular activity. They would then get together for the activity and Cathy wouldn’t participate. It would take a few years for us to realize that Cathy got her joy from watching her family enjoying activities together. Bowling, pumpkin carving, and the Rollins Family Olympics will always remind us of how Cathy “loved” activities.

Cathy enjoyed being a stay-at-home mom and a homemaker. Decorating, quilting, sewing, crocheting and scrapbooking the pictures of the “loved” activities were some of the ways she would show love to her family. All of the grand-children have blankets thoughtfully made by Grandma. If you loved motorcycles, sports, princesses, dinosaurs, Harry Potter or trains there was a blanket for you.

Cruises, Branson, Yellowstone, and temple trips with friends brought Gary and Cathy so much joy. She also thoroughly enjoyed her Daughters of the Utah Pioneers group. She even loved to take her turn teaching which surprised her children because she really preferred to serve in the background as much as possible.

Cathy was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She loved to serve others and would faithfully care for neighbors quietly and behind the scenes. She loved a big ward party but you would usually find her in the kitchen serving food and cleaning up. One of her favorite callings was serving in the children’s center in the Salt Lake Temple. She served in that calling for years until her health made it too difficult to continue.

Cathy is survived by her sister Helen Baumann, and sister-in-law Helen Rollins, sons; Bryan, David (Kelli), Mark (Brittney), Paul and Nathan, daughters; Susan Lawrence and Debbie (Jason) Willborn, 12 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Mary, Margaret, Caroline, brother, Scott, brothers in law, Gerald and Wallace, and her husband Gary.

Services will be held on Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at 11:00 AM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Emerson Ward 808 Roosevelt Avenue, Salt Lake City, Utah. Viewings will be held prior from 9:00 – 10:30 AM at the same location. Interment will follow at Memorial Redwood Cemetery 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah. Guestbook

I am so sorry to hear that Cathy passed. Cathy and my sister Joy were best friends growing up so I have fond memories of her in her younger years. Remember all the beautiful memories, I'm convinced that God gave them to us to help us live without those we love so much.
