Carol Louise Sonntag was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on April 29, 1938 to Dr. Richard William Sonntag and Frances Louise Sandberg Sonntag. She passed away on July 14th, 2023, leaving family and friends with loving, heartfelt memories. Her loyal dogs were her pride and joy and she showered nieces and nephews with gifts and fun activities throughout their lives. Carol loved school and graduated from East High in Salt Lake City, Utah, in 1956. She earned a BA in History from the University of Utah in 1959, and M. ED. at the University of Colorado in 1979, and attended summer college programs in Ireland, Pennsylvania, and BYU Hawaii. She taught junior high English for many years. Carol loved traveling on summer trips to Jackson, WY, and harp conferences around the country. She loved sewing, playing the harp and piano, cooking, snow skiing, taking classes at the U, visiting museums, ballets, concerts, U of U football games and was a well-known, friendly guest at her favorite restaurants. She is preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Frances Sonntag, her sister Marianne Guss, her brother Richard William Sonntag Jr., and her nephew Trip Sonntag. She leaves behind her brother Russell Sonntag (Janean) and many nieces and nephews and their children who adore her. Funeral services will be held at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary 3401 S Highland Drive, Salt Lake City, Utah, on July 22, 2023 at 11:00 am and viewing at 10:00 am.
