Our dear mother and grandmother passed away peacefully and gracefully at her granddaughter’s home in Sunset, Utah on September 10, 2021. She was born on March 27, 1937 in Murray, Utah to Eric Holden Hoagland and Sarah Lucinda Hoagland. She graduated from Murray High School on May 24, 1956 and then set sail on her life’s journey that made her the amazing woman she was. She married her first love, Henry Leon Remy, on January 15, 1958. Tragically he was taken from her too soon, but she was resilient and continued on to raise three beautiful children, Rhonda Gayle, Jackie Lynne and Lonny Wayne. On September 14, 1968 she married her second love, Clifford Kent Leak, and gave life to her fourth child, Lynnett Kae. Her children meant everything to her, and she enjoyed watching them grow and depart on their own life journeys.

One could always find her tending to her yard and manicuring her beautiful rose gardens. When she had down time, she enjoyed reading romance novels and watching western films. She spent 21 years working as a Quality Control Inspector at Abbott Critical Care Systems before retiring to enjoy all life had to offer her.

Carol was a private person but once you got to know her, you couldn’t help but adore and love her. She always gave of herself before giving to herself and sacrificed daily for the sake of her children, even as they grew up and moved on to follow their own paths. Her Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren brought her so much joy over the years.

She is Survived by her daughter Jackie Lynne Brooks, her son Lonny Wayne Remy, her daughter Lynnett Kae Newton (and husband Gregory Newton), and many beloved Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren.

She is Preceded in death by her parents Eric and Sarah Hoagland, her siblings William Hoagland, Lewis Hoagland, Doris Begent, her twin brother Carl Hoagland, her son-in-law Michael Brooks, and her eldest daughter Rhonda Gayle Van Komen.

A viewing will be held on Friday September 17, 2021 from 12:00 to 1:45 p.m. with a funeral service starting at 2:00 p.m. Service and Interment will be at Memorial Redwood Cemetery located at 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah.

In lieu of flowers, the family has established an account at Key Bank to raise funds to apply towards the purchase and placement of Carol’s headstone. Contact the family at (801) 747-9865 for details.

I never had the opportunity to meet Carol but I met her daughter Lynnett here in Austin and she was one of the first friends I made after moving here. She is so kind and giving so I imagine she got if from her momma as Carol sounds like such a lovely woman and I know she meant so much to Lynnett. My deepest condolences to your family.

Carol and I met at Abbet I want to say 45 years ago. We became friends and remain friends until her passing. She was like a sister my best friend. She always had an immaculate home yard and beautiful rose garden. I always told her I wish she would rub off on me. She was one of the hardest working women I ever had the honor to met.I’m going to miss our late night talks all the laughs, prayers and fun we were able to have with each other throughout the years. Our last talk you told me it was going to be glorious to be able to see Jesus and your Parents and your daughter. I know you’re in a beautiful place and very happy. I am so very happy for you. I love you my dear friend until we met again Rest in peace.❤️❤️❤️
