Layton, UT –

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Carol Ann Basil, age 85, on March 10, 2022.

Carol was born in Pocatello, Idaho, the youngest of five children. At age 18, she yearned to leave her small town for the “big city” life in Salt Lake City. There, Carol raised three daughters, Cherie Sorensen (Mike), Karen Stratford Croft (Kevin), and Cindy Johnson (Kirk). She was a doting grandmother to her five grandchildren, Michael, Cody, Lauren, Kate, and Connor. Great-grandchildren Jordyn and Carter. She is survived by her stepbrother Johnny Palmer. Carol was preceded in death by her husband, John Basil. Her parents, Elmer St. Claire and Verna Rane. Stepfather, Vern Palmer. Siblings, LeGrande Rane, Ben Rane, Zella Hall, and Jim Rane.

Carol was a hard worker her entire life and loved giving service to others where she could. She was a member of Epsilon Sigma Alpha, The Optimist Club, and Home Health Care. Carol was loved by all who knew her. She worked tirelessly to care for her three loving daughters.

A special thank you to her friends at Legacy Cottages. She spent hours doing crafts, playing cards, sharing stories, and laughing with her dear neighbors who watched over her.

A celebration of Carol’s life will be held this summer for her family and friends. Date to be announced.

Carol was one of the sweetest ladies I have known. She always had a cute smile and a tender sentiment. She loved her daughters and her friends! She missed her husband, he was in her thoughts continually. I will always remember beautiful Carol.
