Carl Carrington, 70, of South Jordan, UT passed away on December 30, 2020 peacefully surrounded by his loved ones at his home after a brave battle with cancer.

Carl was born on January 8, 1950 to Harry and Cora Carrington in Delta, Utah where he was one of six brothers.

Carl married Betty McMurtrey on February 11, 1972. They were married 43 years, and they raised four children in the Salt Lake Area.

We remember Dad for the pride he had for his Swedish heritage, horses and old westerns. He had a passion for cooking, wood working, trains, camping and helping those around him. He loved his children and especially his grandchildren who were the spark in his life.

Dad worked as a master mechanic for many years with the last 15 years of his career working for UDOT.

After the passing of his dear wife, he was able to find love again with Sylvia Hutto and they enjoyed traveling. They went on many cruises, adventures and sight seeing trips together.

He is survived by three of his four children, Chris (Lianna) Madsen, Paige Carrington and Shane Carrington. 11 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Betty, his son Todd Madsen and granddaughter Maquelle Madsen.

We would like to give our thanks to Dads cancer care team, Dr. Clarke Low, Dr. George Cannon, Dr. Jamie Brant and Canyons Home Care & Hospice for their compassionate care.

In Lieu of flowers, we ask each of you to do a random act of kindness in memory of Dad.

Interment will be at Memorial Mortuaries at 10055 S. State Street Sandy, UT 84070 on Monday January 4, 2021. A viewing will be held from 11:00 – 1:00 with graveside services to follow.

I am so sorry to hear of Carl's passing, he was such a great neighbor and friend to my parents and always happy to help them.

My mom wanted me to express her condolences as well. She loved your family and while she cannot attend the service in person she will be watching via Zoom. May your family find peace in his memory and the knowledge that Carl truly was a great and kind man.

We are so sorry to hear of Carl’s passing. We’ve had the pleasure of getting to know him over the past several years after moving into the neighborhood. He was a kind and caring friend. Carl was always willing to serve and help those around him and was often the first person there to assist his neighbors. He will be missed. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

Sincerely, Scott & Cynthia LeBaron
