Bruce was born on October 19, 1943 in Spokane, Washington to Gordon W. Kirkendall and Betty Gibb. Bruce passed away peacefully in his home under the care of his loving wife on November 15, 2021 following a long history of medical issues and complications. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, and his brother, Stephen Wayne Kirkendall.

Bruce loved animals. He spent an enormous amount of time raising animals such as cows, horses, dogs and chickens. He loved riding horses, tractor, and big trucks. He was a hard worker who didn’t like being idle. In his younger days, he loved camping and hunting in the mountains. Bruce was also into ironwork and welding. He was a member of the Teamsters. For many years, he did real estate and was a mortgage loan officer. During the last few years, Bruce enjoyed fishing and being an EMT with his wife.

Bruce was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He was baptized into the church at age 16. Shortly thereafter, he served a fulltime mission for over two years in the Gulf States Mission covering Arkansas, Mississippi, Louisiana, and Missouri areas. He loved reading the scriptures. Soon after he and his wife moved to UT in 2018, they served as Family History Library Missionaries. Bruce loved the Lord. He was very mindful of his children and faithful to his wife Elsie. He was fun to converse with that he will be sorely missed by his family, friends, and mission mates whom he had stayed friends and in contact with even days before his passing.

Bruce is survived by his wife, Elsie, his children—Kevin Bruce (Deana), Kerrie Lyn, Stefanie (Larry Ward), Joshua Gibb (Rachel), Jessie Diane (Chris Kuhn), Elizabeth (Lonnie Brown), and Benjamin Stewart; his grandchildren—Auria, Mary, Brendan, Madison, Hannah, and McKay (Kevin’s children); Ethan, Caleb, Luke, Noah, Emma (Stefanie’s children); Savannah and Elise (Joshua’s children); and, Owen and Isabel (Elizabeth’s children).
