Bruce was born to Lynn and Jule Anne Cook in American Fork, Utah on December 22, 1969. He was a cherished eldest brother to Brent Cook, Brian (Tori) Cook, Jenica (Jon) Hafen, Jeana (Clint) Fackrell, and Gary (Anne) Nez. He is preceded in death by his two older sisters, Jody (Scott) Shumway and Jana Cook.

Bruce graduated from Lehi High School in 1988 before going on to serve a full-time mission in Portland, Oregon. Bruce was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many callings through the years including Assistant to the President on his mission, Elders Quorum President, member of the High Council and Bishop of the Highland Utah, 30th Ward.

Bruce met the love of his life and wife of over 30 years, Taunya Kaye Clark while the two attended Lehi High School. Bruce and Taunya were married and sealed for time and eternity in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple on March 22, 1992. The couple has since been blessed with 5 beautiful children - Sydney (Kolby) Nielson, Brittney (Conner) Adams, Tyler (Elizabeth) Cook, Kassidy Cook, Dalton Cook, and 4 amazing grandchildren - Kohen, Rhett, Brooks and Jett.

Bruce was a family man first who’s greatest pride and joy was found in spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren. Being a husband, father, and then grandfather, came naturally to Bruce. His children loved spending time with their dad through their many shared hobbies including dirt bike riding, snowmobiling, flying as a pilot, working in his shop (Bruce could fix anything), Lake Powell boating trips, hunting, basketball and vacationing with his family. His grandkids loved and adored their ‘Papa Bruce’ as he was, and still is, the light of their young lives.

Bruce was a staple in the community and known by many as the President and Business Owner of Humphries Welding Supply originated in American Fork, Utah. He was a respected and admired businessman, employer, partner and friend to all he came across. In addition to his occupation as President of Humphries, Bruce also served as member of the American Fork City Fire Department for over 20 years.

A Funeral Service will be held in his honor Tuesday, December 13, 2022 at 11:00 AM at the Highland 30th Ward, located at 9626 N 6800 W in Highland, Utah. Viewings will be held Monday, December 12, at the same church building from 6-8 PM., and prior to the Funeral Service from 9:30-10:45 AM.

Dearest Cook Family, My heart is so heavy to hear the news of Bruce’s passing. I can’t stop thinking about all of you and the tremendous loss this is. I only know the pain of losing one child and can’t even imagine how this feels to say goodbye to Jana, Scott, Jody and now Bruce in such different, but equally traumatic ways. I am so grateful you have a big family and incredible amounts of friends surrounding you so you can all support each other through this. I admire you all so very much for hanging in there and showing us all how to be brave and face whatever challenges and trials we are asked to go through with dignity and class. You guys are my favorite people in the whole world. Please know my whole heart and prayers will be with you during this difficult time. You are tremendously loved!! Take care and I will come see you soon!!! Love, Suzi (Peck) Bullock

Your friends at Direct Push Services will miss you Bruce. Yes we worked together.. but it was bird hunting, lunch, and you taking the extra time to visit and catch up wherever we bumped into each other. You made me feel like one of your best friends and I enjoyed all of our visits. I was impressed with you remembering the smallest details of my personal life and sharing yours with me. You have been a great example to me and I am a better person for knowing you. Thank you for the memories and friendship. All our love from us to you and your family as you go through this painful time. Love you Bruce!

Bruce was the best and would give you the shirt off his back (literally) Such an energetic and fun person to be around! He loved the outdoors, skiing, the water, motor bikes, boating, snowmobiling, trucks and an incredible athlete as well! He was the type of person that knew alot but you would never know it because he was just as humble (sometimes) and he was the type of person you wanted to be around. My heart is broken at the news.

Pray your beautiful family is embraced by the lords comfort. Love you Bruce May you Rest In Love. God be with you til. we meet again probably jumping clouds or tearing through new roads on new worlds!!

Bruce was my young mens leader in 2001, I'll always remember the lake powell trip as my favorite. I always marveled at how cool and confident Bruce was. He was very funny and made you feel good.

I enjoyed running into him randomly whether at Olive Garden where I used to work, or at AF hospital with his wife who cared for my son in the NICU in 2016. He'll be sorely missed. My deep condolences to his family.

All of us from California Cylinder want to express our deepest sympathies. Bruce was a wonderful man with a huge heart. I always enjoyed catching up with Bruce on life and work. He was so proud of his family and always so involved in everything he loved. I was lucky enough to spend some time with him in San Diego for GAWDA and we had our weekly phone calls since then. Bruce always made me feel more like a friend than a vendor. He will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.

I’ll never forget Bruce’s signature greeting he gave me every single time he saw me. He would come up and grab my ponytail and start shaking it telling me that it was a thick as a horses mane.

I have countless memories of soccer games he attended and times I played at his house growing up. In both situations, there was no doubt in this world the love he had for his kids. I loved watching the relationship he had with each of them. Being with Syd and much as I was, she was 100% a daddy’s girl. They had quite the bond. I don’t think he ever missed a soccer game.

I’m so glad I had the opportunity to know Bruce for many many years. Sending so much love and so many prayers to each of you Cooks during this heart wrenching time. Love you all!

We are heartbroken with the news of Bruce's passing. Our thought's and prayers go out to Taunya, his kids, Lynn and Jule, his siblings, grandkids and all the others that knew and loved him. I was lucky to be part of the same friend group that hung out in Jr High and High School and have so many memories of being at the Cooks house, cruising around in his chevy truck and all the fun times we had when we were young. Bruce's smile and laugh always lit up the room and he always made everyone feel better being around him. I am honored to say that Bruce was a friend of mine and I know how good of a husband, father, son, employer, brother, coach and friend he was to so many people. I am so sorry for your loss! Mark G

His daughter Kassidy has been a good friend of mine for years and I have so many fun memories at their house. Her dad always said things that made us laugh and made sure we were having a good time. There is so much love in the Cook family, and I love being around them.

Kass and fam, I love y'all so much!! The Lord is with you.

All my love,

Sister Mal Vick :)

We have so many fond memories of Bruce. He always gave us and our kids big hugs and smiles. Every person in our family had an interaction with him on Sunday, he went out of his way to connect with people. He was real and that was what made people feel comfortable around him. He lived life to the fullest and helped others to as well. He invested time and resources to help others succeed. I remember him encouraging the young women to have the courage to jump from a pretty high rock at girls camp. This was life changing and helped these girls have courage tomdo hard things. He didn't hold back, he loved his family and his parents so deeply. We look forward to big hugs and smiles when reunite. God bless the Cook Family.

Nothing but goodness with Bruce! Loved him as a customer but always as a friend. I'm glad that the welding industry brought us together from across the country. Such a great father, friend and person. God must of needed such an amazing soul for something big!

Our hearts are with the many who loved Bruce and especially his family. Brandon and I I will forever be grateful for the love he extended to our children, Micaela & River. He was another dad to them and always welcomed them into his home. Thank you for being such an amazing influence in their life. May the army of angels continue to surround your family during this time. Much love and support.

My deepest sympathy to Bruce’s family, friends and colleagues. I had the privilege of knowing Bruce through his business. He was one of the kindest men I’ve ever known. Gone from this world way too soon. RIP Bruce.

My heart and prayers are with you, Taunya, and your family. Bruce was a second father to my siblings and I and always was there for us no matter where life took us. He helped me before and while serving my mission in some hard times. I look at his contact in my phone and want to leave a message. I continue to shed tears and mourn with you. I’m heartbroken and devastated but trust in God’s plan fully. Lean on the Savior and Heavenly Father and trust them more than ever at this time. You are so strong! Bruce is still with you and your family on the other side of the veil. He is happy serving and teaching those who need the gospel in their lives and what better man than Bruce. He truly was a light and example of the Savior, Jesus Christ. He also does mourn with you but trust him as well. Love you and know that I am here for you. 💗

With so much love,

Oh Taunya. I understand how you feel. At least to some degree. I share a portion of my journal entry the week after Christine’s death and the funeral.

“The week between Christine’s death and funeral is a huge blur. It was difficult. Very difficult. I couldn’t breathe. I was sick. I was emotionally distraught. Yet, I had to do what I had to do. That evening I reached out to a good friend and prior bishop, Bruce Cook, to ask for a mortuary recommendation.”

Bruce was there for me at the lowest point of my life. He was the one that I called when I needed help.

I want to be there for you and your family like he was for me.

As we spoke, the road ahead is hard, but you will find joy again. I can promise you that. Bruce misses you as much as you miss him. He sees things differently now.

Have faith in the plan. It’s real.

D&C 42:45 Thou shalt live together in love, insomuch that thou shalt weep for the loss of them that die, and more especially for those that have not hope of a glorious resurrection.

The resurrection is real. Bruce is alive and you will be with him again.

Love, Your friend,

James Sloan

I have known Bruce and his family for over 40 yrs. I liked his dad Lynn..and I admired him for his fire fighting and also we flew RC planes together. I looked up to Bruce for many years hunting and doing all things fast and crazy like I loved itt. Bruce was not overzealous about adventures..but he did all his adventures like snowmobile riding JUST RIGHT! He was not outrageous or crazy. He was just right with his family and in archery and his welding shop. Bruce always helped mee for years with my welder. He fixed it with minimal costs. He just put new wire in my welder a few months ago. I loved hearing his hunting stories and his bishop stories and his family stories. He was a great man and loving person to show the world that he loves God's children everywhere. Bruce, I pray that God will watch over your wonderful family. My brother, I say unto you..I love you, immortal man, Now! Eric M. Bowers
