Brooke Jeppesen Varner, our beautiful wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend passed away Saturday January 8, 2022, due to a long battle with cancer and other health complications. In Brooke’s 40 short years on earth, she displayed so many talents and achieved so many accomplishments, even while enduring so much pain. Brooke was born on November 25, 1981 to Jeff Jeppesen and Kathy Hosek. She was welcomed by her instant best friend and older sister Brandi. She spent most of her youth in the Cottonwood/Holladay area and attended Cottonwood High School, where she graduated in 2000.

Brooke excelled in many areas. While in high school, she earned her CNA license and developed a love for nursing and caring for others. Her Senior year of high school she was voted student of the year. Brooke was stunning, and her beautiful blonde hair instantly attracted people to her, but it was her personality and smarts that really made Brooke stand out. Before earning her CNA, Brooke had a summer job at Woody’s Drive in, where she met Jon Varner. They had an instant connection and dated throughout high school.

On December 12, 2000 she married the love of her life Jon Varner. In 2001 they lost their first child, Lauren, due to complications of childbirth. This heartbreaking loss motivated Brooke to become a RN in Labor and Delivery, where she worked at LDS Hospital for many years. She loved the friends she made while working at LDS Hospital. She excelled in every area of her job and was able to help other couples who experienced the loss of a child. She also took pride in knowing that she had prevented couples from experiencing the same outcome as she had. As Brooke’s health declined, she was frustrated that her body couldn’t meet the demands of working in Labor and Delivery, but she wanted to continue her career and enjoyed working in Same Day Surgery. While going through chemo she continued her education and earned her BSN. Last year she was so excited to be accepted into the Nurse Practitioner program and was disappointed to find out her declining health just wouldn’t allow it.

Brooke was an amazing nurse, but an even better wife and mother. Brooke loved being a mom. She was a devoted, loving mother to their other three children, Taylor, Jaxon, and Boston. She supported them in everything they set out to do and was always their biggest cheerleader. She loved doing crafts. She loved spending time with her family, celebrating the holidays, especially the Fourth of July, and loved being at the beach.

Brooke had many talents and hobbies. While in high school she enjoyed making candles and sold them in the Art Market. When Taylor was little, she learned to sew and loved letting Taylor pick out patterns so she could make her new custom outfits. Brooke became a talented seamstress and later turned that hobby into a business making custom blankets and burp cloths, using a variety of Minky fabrics. By the time her health forced her to dissolve her business, she had given away as many as she had sold. Brooke had compassion for others and always looked for ways to help others.

Brooke loved being a nurse but didn’t like being the patient. Brooke was always extremely independent. As her health declined, she depended on others to care for her. She was always so gracious. Everyone who helped care for her, always knew they were appreciated. She considered many of her doctors and nurses her friends. Brooke was always trying to care for others, even while enduring her own trials. She loved sending a brightbox to someone, just to say thanks, or to cheer them up that day. Brooke’s influence will leave a hole in so many hearts. We all love her so much and will miss her until we see her again.

Brooke is survived by her husband Jon, her children Taylor, Jaxon and Boston, parents Kathy and Jeff Hosek, Jeff and Rose Jeppesen, in-laws Ralph and Janie Varner, siblings Brandi (Eric) Ashby, Chelsea (Sam) Lake, Jordon (Brooke) Jeppesen, sister-in-law Kristy (Ben) Grindstaff, brothers-in-law Jason (Alison) Varner, Brian (Jaime) Varner, Scott Varner, grandparents Tad and Carolyn Jeppesen, Kenneth and Adele Truscott, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Brooke was preceded in death by her daughter Lauren Jane Varner.

Please join us in celebrating Brooke’s life on Saturday, January 15, 2022 at 12 noon at the Copperview 7th Ward, 12232 S 3200 W, where visitations will be held Friday, January 14 from 6 - 8 pm and Saturday from 10:30 – 11:45 am prior to services. Interment will be in the Salt Lake City Cemetery.
