Brian believed in and fought for freedom. He loved the outdoors and loved his dog, Kiba, family, and good friends.

In 1991, Brian, a veteran, served in the Marines, in the Persian Gulf War, he was a "shellback" crossing the Equator during his deployment. He also earned a blackbelt in karate. Brian worked as a stone mason, creating beautiful stonework for various patrons.

He was a good man, strong in his convictions, in personality, and "Uh Huh, Think about it." - Brian S. love of life. He is survived by his father, Mike McCarthy, and his brothers, Christopher and Kirtis and their families.

If it was one thing that Brian did, he made a mark. Thanks, Brian. We love you.

He will be missed.

We know he is at peace.

I just found out about Brian's passing. We kayaked together and were roommates for several years. I would see him at the VFW with Kiba and we would chat and check in with each other. I had not seen after my knee surgery in May. He was always jolly, laughed all of the time, and good to hang out with. He will be missed!

Brian,

I will miss one of the most distinctive laughs I have ever heard. I could be outside of the Post with my helmet on and know you and Keba were down the walk way. Thank you for enriching our lives for short time we knew you. Hope you family understands you were someone special in our lives too.

Semper Fi, wherever you are!

We had some serious and spirited discussions on many issues and he had some ideas about a lot of things that were right and wrong. He also had an unmistakable laugh and a good sense of humor. He LOVED his dog Kiba..... Brian will be sorely missed.

I am sad. I know he lived as he wanted, going from place to place. He came to Georgia and visited me for a while.

I pray he is with the LORD and his Mom and our family who have passed before him.
