Brent Leigh Wood

Mar 7, 1944 Mar 5, 2024

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Brent Leigh Wood, beloved father, brother, uncle, and friend. Brent passed away on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, surrounded by family.

Brent was born on March 7, 1944 in Tooele, UT to Charles and Louise Wood. He spent his childhood exploring the wilds on horseback. As a teenager, Brent widened his horizons by souping up a few choice hot rods. Between his adventures, Brent participated in the Tooele High School football team and band. His talent in music led him to teach himself bass guitar, with which he started a local band.

After graduation, he spent time at Utah State pursuing a degree in Agriculture. Before long, however, Brent’s sense of adventure carried him to the United States Air Force. He served honorably for four years as a jet engine mechanic, gaining the rank of Sergeant before departing. For some time following, he spent his days as an airline mechanic and his nights as a musician, playing alongside such greats as The Mamas and the Papas, Dolly Parton, and Johnny Cash.

As time moved forward, Brent enjoyed a career in real estate. Eventually, he returned to Utah where he forged a home and life on the plains at the foot of the Stansbury Mountains.

Brent is survived by daughter Emma, son Scott, former spouse Malee, brother Dennis, sister Kathleen, and many beloved extended family members and friends. Those welcoming him to his Heavenly home include parents Charles and Louise Wood, sister Sharleen, and beloved horse Jamie who is eagerly waiting to carry him to his next adventure.

Certainly, God will smile at the arrival of this wild spirit with his mustang in tow. Brent is now home on heaven’s majestic plains playing his guitar by the campfire on his greatest adventure yet. Rest in peace our beloved Brent. Your strength, courage, and unending humor will live in our hearts forever.

A service will be held to lay Brent's ashes to rest at the Tooele City Cemetery. The date of the service is yet to be determined. If you would like to be updated about service information, please email brentsfuneralservice@gmail.com and a member of the family will keep you informed.
