Brent Ashton Ferrin

Jan 6, 1954 Oct 2, 2023

Brent Ashton Ferrin passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on October 2, 2023; a day always to be remembered, when the world lost one of its most amazing men. Brent was born January 6, 1954, the third child of Jay and Jeanne Ferrin, in Detroit, Michigan, and died at a young 69 years of age. He had been fighting a battle with congestive heart failure, kidney

failure, and finally a lung infection that took him back to his loving Father in heaven. Having already been a cancer-survivor earlier in life, each day was a gift for him, and he knew it.

Brent was an eternal optimist and always looked for the positive. He had a stressful, but extremely blessed life, full of adventure, always holding on “by the skin of his teeth”. He had a deep love of his family, the outdoors, singing, and traveling the world. He spent many days on horseback, snowmobiles, skis, flying (and crashing!) small airplanes, coaching little-league

football, camping, hunting, fishing, driving his 4x4s, and looking for the next best thing, or property to develop into something amazing. He could sell anything and loved working with a vast variety of people in his career as a real-estate developer. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and had a faithful and solid testimony of Jesus

Christ. He loved serving in various capacities and teaching, including a missionary as a young man to Taiwan, senior missionary in inner-city Salt Lake, ward missionary, gospel doctrine teacher, young-mens’ and boy scout leader, primary teacher, choir member, and also held leadership positions in bishoprics and high councils.

Brent had a passion for having fun, and that didn’t go unnoticed. His love of life was contagious. He was a light to all he encountered, and was always giving of himself and sharing his experiences to better the world. He loved being actively involved in the lives of his children and grandchildren, whom he loves more than anything else. He had incredible successes and

massive failures, but he always overcame his challenges with a smile, even to his dying day. He had a wonderful sense of humor and was always laughing. He loved telling, reading, or making-up fun stories. Brent made many, many friends, and touched thousands of lives with his bright spirit.

He is survived by his wife, Susan, of 40 years (and one day!), his children, Lisa (Scott) Betts, Ashley (Sam) Hoyal, and Ashton (AbbyJane), with 14 grandchildren, as well as all six of his siblings and their spouses. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jay and Jeanne Ferrin.

A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2023, at 11:00 am at the North Shore Stake Center church building, located at 10344 S. Kestrel Rise Road, South Jordan, UT. A live stream of the service will also be offered; please contact the family for the link.
