Born June 16, 1965 to Robert Scott Sylvester and Kay (Coleman) Sylvester in Salt Lake City, Utah. Later moving to Colorado where she met her life-long best friend, Debbie. At age 10, the family moved back to Utah where she continued to live and build her life. Brenda loved school and exceled in her studies and grades. She also loved gymnastics which she started at age five and continued through her childhood and high school, where she did elite competitions with the Utah Academy of Gymnastics. During high school, Brenda met the love of her life Ted Howell. Shortly after graduating, Ted and Brenda were married at the Salt Lake Episcopal Church. Brenda spent her career with a phenomenal work ethic and drive that kept her moving up the companies she worked for. Prior to medical retirement, she worked at Sysco Foods as a Director of Purchasing.

Brenda was a very loving wife, mother, daughter and sister where at age 24 and 26, she gave birth to her sons Ryan and Bracken, respectively. She grew up with her two brothers, Todd (Bonni) Sylvester and Shaun (Nicole) Sylvester. Brenda lived her life enjoying trips with her husband and children to their cabin in Montana and various cruises. She also loved to paint as well as read in her free time. Brenda and Ted really enjoyed having family and friends over at their house and hosting parties. She was also a huge country music fan, specifically Blake Shelton.

Brenda passed away at home with family present after an 18-year battle with her disease on December 12, 2021. Brenda fought her disease with dignity, strength and determination where she always kept a positive outlook on life and did not complain to anyone. She taught everyone around her to be a stronger person and to be grateful for what you have. Even with everything Brenda was dealing with, she still showed care for everyone around her. Brenda is survived by her husband, Ted and their two children, Ryan (Stephanie) and Bracken (Ariel). She is also survived by her parents, Robert and Kay as well as her two brothers, Todd (Bonni) and Shaun (Nicole) and their families.
