Blanche Lorraine Thompson Read

Blanche Lorraine Thompson Read passed away at the age of 89 on March 7, 2023, in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was born on March 25, 1933 in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Otto William Thompson and Margaret Pilkington. Blanche married her sweetheart, Blair Garner Read, on July 25, 1975, and together they spent 48 wonderful years together. Blanche and Blair were later sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple on March 23, 1987.

One of Blanche’s biggest accomplishments was writing a book; Magic of Carol, about her baby brother that passed at birth. She loved playing the piano as often as she could, and loved to decorate everything. Blanche enjoyed reading a good book and often wrote letters.

Blanche is survived by her loving husband, Blair G Read, sister: Bonnie Dean Hanson, two children, Rhonda and Curtis, seven grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Blanche is preceded in death by her parents, one brother, and four sisters.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 13, 2023, at 1:00 PM with a viewing one hour prior beginning at 12:00 PM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Butler 11th Ward, 7200 South De Ville Drive, Cottonwood Heights, Utah 84121. Interment will immediately follow the services at Memorial Mountain View Mortuary and Cemetery 3115 East 7800 South, Cottonwood Heights, Utah 84121.

Blanche will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
