Betty Thayne Madison

1928 - 2007

Betty Thayne Madison passed away, November 24, 2007 in her home with family by her side. Betty was a gentle kind mother, grand-mother and great-grandmother.

She was born Sept. 14, 1928 in Midvale, Utah to James Wilford and Elizabeth Joyce Cox Thayne.

She married Bruce Madison, January 21, 1947; later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple.

She enjoyed children and had a special love for babies. Betty not only made a home for her own family, but for many foster children.

She enjoyed gardening and volunteered for many years at the Murray Heritage Center. While there, she enjoyed hand-painting ceramics which she shared with family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents; nine brothers and sisters; and one great-granddaughter. She is survived by three sons, Larry (Janet). Madison, Gary Madison (Brenda) and William (Dana) Madison; 15 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and daughters-in-law, Nancy Pozza and Judy Johnson. She also opened her home and heart to many others who she regarded as members of her family.

The family would like to give a special thanks and appreciation for the kind care given by the Legacy Hospice Care Workers and staff of the Legacy House of Taylorsville, where she was residing.

Funeral services for Betty will be 11 a.m. at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 So. State Street, where friends may visit prior to the services from 10-10:45 a.m. Interment: Redwood In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Betty's name to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America.
